~Genevieve ArellanoWe walk out of the door and the sunlight beams over us, the wind isn't very strong which makes the air even warmer. The sky is so bright, I smile as I breath in all the fresh air. Cam mocks me by doing the same and we both laugh.
We walk down the long path, the only thing you can hear is our feet walking across the rocks and the birds chirping. The smell of all the roses, fills the air, I pick one and place it to my nose. It smells just like my mother, she loved roses.
We walk past a huge lake and I walk over to it and sit down. I just watch as the ducks swim around without a care in the world. Cam sits down next to me and watches with me. We sit there for an hour or so before standing up and carrying on with the walk.
We walk past the old village and I examine the old stone buildings. I look at all the people walking past and just take in the atmosphere around me.
I wish I could do this everyday.
"This is really nice." He says and I nod in agreement.
"It really is, I have missed talking to you." I admit.
"I really wish we spoke about this sooner." He says, the sadness is obvious in his tone and I rub his arm.
I nod, it's true but I've been too used to being alone that I didn't bother. I could have had a good relationship with my brother and father but I was too selfish and only thought about how I felt that it didn't cross my mind that the two of them were going through the same loss I was.
"What matters is, that we are spending time together now." I smile and he nods.
We carry on walking up a large hill, the further we went, the colder it got but I didn't mind. The breeze felt good against my skin.
"So, how was your day?" I ask.
"It was alright, school dragged. But I met a girl." He says with a huge grin on his face.
I can't remember the last time Cam and I had a regular conversation never mind about our relationships. His relationships. I mentally roll my eyes at my thoughts. It's true, I've never really had a relationship, I mean unless you count the time when I held hands with a boy when I was 8.
"Who?" I smile and clap my hands together in excitement.
"Her name is, Ella Moore, she has long blonde hair, gorgeous blue eyes. She's amazing! I asked her out for dinner this Saturday and she said yes!" He smiles and I cheer.
"Yay! I'm so happy for you!" I smile. "I hope you are planning on introducing me." I grin and he nods.
"Of course! Just not yet, she might not like me." He chuckles but the worry is clear in his voice.
"She will adore you! You're such a lovely person!" It's true, how could anyone not adore Cam? He's got a heart of gold, I remember how he used to comfort me when I was younger when I fell over. Or when I cried about the stupidest things. He's always been here for me.
A pool of sadness drowns me, maybe I have isolated myself from the world. I've been quick to blame my father for never letting me out, but I haven't made an effort to talk to the two of them. We could have lived happily over these two years and fought the pain of my mothers passing together. I've felt alone but I never really was.
"Thank you Gen! Anyway, how about you? Met anyone new?" He asks and I shake my head. Oh wait, Harry! Should I tell him? We have barely spoke, and I don't even think we are friends, but he claims to have known the family so maybe Cam will know him.
"Well... sort of? I think." I say and he cheers.
"That's great, who?" He asks and I pause.
"Well his name is Harry, we met when I went out at night and he spoke to me when I fell over. He also transferred to my class today and we spoke a bit." I smile and he nods.
"What does he look like?" He asks.
"He is very tall, his hair is brown and curly, he is very handsome. He had the most gorgeous eyes..."
I look at Cam and he is looking at the floor. Is something wrong? His face has went pale and he isn't saying anything."What?" I ask, clearly there is something wrong.
"You should stay away from him Gen." Is all he says.
I roll my eyes, "Why?" I ask and he doesn't say anything.
"You can't tell me, who I can and cannot be around without giving me a valid reason." I cross my arms and stop walking.
He turns around and steps in front of me to face me.
"It doesn't matter why, I don't want you near him." I want to know why he doesn't want me near Harry and it's starting to annoy me.
"Tell me." I demand. He shakes his head. I sigh and roll my eyes before turning back the way we came.
"Where are you going?" He asks.
"Home."
"You're so stubborn Gen, come on." He shouts but I ignore him and carry on walking.
I finally met someone and spoke to someone other than my brother and father. Him telling me not to speak to Harry really annoyed me. I should be able to make my own decisions on who I speak to. This also makes me even more interested in Harry. What's his story? Why is my brother so determined to not let me speak to him? So many questions and no answers.
