Third Person POV:

Thomas is led down another long hallway by a guard, each step he takes voices become louder and easier to hear. He walks through a doorway that leads to a large room with tables scattered around. At each table sits kids. Kids his age. They are eating, talking, and laughing. They were all being kids.

"Hey, Thomas!" Minho calls to his friend while he walks in his direction.

"Hey, Minho, what's going on?"

"We weren't the only maze. Come on." Minho drags Thomas over to a table where the other boys were sitting while eating and talking to a couple of other kids that Thomas did not recognize.

"And there was this big, loud explosion, and these guys came out of nowhere." One of the boys that Thomas did not recognize was talking at the moment, "They started shooting up the place." This had caught Thomas' attention.

"It was intense." Another boy had commented.

"They pulled us out of the maze and brought us here."

"What about the rest? The other people left behind in the maze, what happened to them?" Newt questioned with the thought of the gladers that stayed back in the glade in his mind.

"I don't know." His heart dropped at the boy's words. "I guess W.C.K.D still has them."

"How long you guys been here?"

"Not long. Just a day or two. That kid over there..." He looks over his shoulder to a boy who sat by himself, his hood over his head, staring at his plate of food. "He has been here the longest. Almost a week."

"His maze was nothing but girls." The other boy added.

"Really?" Minho spoke in surprise. Of course, their maze had Teresa and Finley, but the idea of a whole maze full of all girls just blew his mind.

"Some guys have all the luck," The boy chuckled.

"Talking about girls," Winston spoke up, "how is Finley? Did anyone hear anything?"

"Yeah, I asked Mr. Janson. He said she is fine and that the doctors were fixing her up." Thomas answered.

"Who's Finley?" The boy asked.

"A girl in our maze," Jack answered.

"We only had two girls. We, unfortunately, did not have a whole maze full." Minho spoke jokingly in an attempt to lighten his own mood.

"Good evening, gentlemen. Ladies." Mr. Janson's voice boomed over the chatter of the eating area. Everyone went silent and turned to face the direction in which Mr. Janson stood. "You all know how this works. If you hear your name called please rise in an orderly fashion, join my colleagues behind me where they will escort you to the eastern wing. Your new lives are about to begin." Everyone cheered besides for the gladers who stared at the elder man in front of them with untrusting eyes and curious glances at one another. "Conor... Evelyn... Justin... Peter... Alison... Squiggy. All right, settle down... Franklin... And Abigail." He closes his clipboard and the rest of the kids groaned out in disappointment, "Now, now. Don't get discouraged. If I could take more, I would. There's always tomorrow. Your time will come. Go on, eat up."

"Where are they going?" Minho is the first to speak.

"Far from here." The boy sighs while watching the kids that had their names just called leave. "Lucky bastards."

"Some kind of farm. A safe place. They can only take in a couple people at a time." The other boy answered Minho's question. Just as the group goes silent and begin to eat again, Thomas looks up to see Doctor Crawford leading Teresa down a hall on the other side of the glass windows.

"What the hell?" He mutters before quickly standing up."Hey, Teresa?!" He hollers, catching the attention of the boy who has been here the longest. "Teresa!" He tries to go through the doorway to get to the girl, but a guard steps in front of him, ultimately stopping him.

"Hey, hey, hey."

"Where are they taking her?"

"They just have to run a few more tests. Don't worry, they'll be done with her soon."

"Is she okay?" He asks nervously.

"She's fine."

-----

The gladers are led back to their bunkers for the night once they are done eating. The metal door that enters the bunkers buzzes open after the guard unlocks it with his key card.

"Ooh, I got top bunk!" Frypan dibs. But, Minho jumps up before Fry has the chance to even step on the ladder.

"Too slow." Minho exhales.

"I could get used to this." Winston chuckles while he lays down on one of the bottom bunks. Jack climbs to the top one above Winston with a cheerful smile of finally having a bed that is not tied to a tree and swings if you move around too much.

"Yeah, it's not bad." Newt nods in agreement. The door closes and buzzes which signals that it has been locked.

"Hey, what do you think those guys want with Teresa?" Thomas asks Newt.

"Same thing I said about Finley; if there's one thing I know about that girl, is that she can take care of herself. Don't worry about it." Newt turns around and climbs up to the top bunk, a sad smile takes form on his face when he lays down on the bed. He finds it sweet how much Thomas cares about Teresa, he just wishes that Thomas would care and worry about himself in that same way. Even though he does not want to admit what Finley said in the maze, he did like Thomas. But, he knew in the end, he would just get hurt.
