About 12 months passed since then.
Jess had been practicing almost every chance she had gotten, she wanted to be no matter what.
Every so often, she would Chat with Josh, chatting with him was the only thing keeping her sane at this point.
In the freetime she gave herself, she would be planning, looking for weak points in the guards that came into the room each night.
She had everything planned out perfectly, she just needed to one thing, and one thing only.
Beat the campaign..
Now that was the most difficult part.
The campaign would start of easy, having only to beat a level to make it to the next level.
But over time it got more difficult and Jess was actually starting to struggle a bit.
The levels would start adding more win conditions, she would have to do more things in order to beat the level besides just slicing notes the right way.
In one level, she had to purposely slice 10 notes the wrong way and then find a way to somehow get a score that's above 2,000 points.
Though thankfully, some of the levels were either optional or you could purposely not do them to pass the section.
But some of these level she did have to do, and boy were they hard..
For one singular level, she could only use one saber with only that one sabers colored notes.
Now this may seem easy but, just know that trying to beat reason for living on expert with only one saber isn't that fun.
Jess kept failing and failing and failing.
Jess started to grow a headache from falling onto the ground so many times.
"Ugh~! Why can't I beat this f##ing level!-"
"Need assistance?" Asked Josh, seemingly coming from no where.
Jess jumped, she didn't even notice Josh before.
"...jeez, maybe talk to say your here.." Jess said in a semi annoyed voice.
"Sorry, but do you need help?" Josh asked as Jess nodded.
"Well here's a trick, pay close attention to how close each note is, then in your mind, develop a strategy to slice the notes" Josh explained as Jess could feel her head frying.
"What?" Jess said quietly in confusion as Josh sighed.
"Just think before you slice.." Josh said as Jess started to get what Josh was saying.
"Ill.. try that, thanks josh.." Jess said as she entered the level again.
It turns out, Josh's advise was actually useful, she ended up beating the level easily after a few tries.
Jess then kept going through level after level, day after day.
The levels taking longer to beat as Jess progressed, she was now getting towards the final stretch.
There was two levels left, and there was still 7 months until the release day.
She had beat the first last level pretty easily, seemed a bit too easy to her but she payed no attention to it.
She was now on the final level, simply titled.
Beat saber.
She was about to click on the level but.
She heard a beep, along with a voice.
"Hey Jess! Whats up!" Josh said cheerfully.
"Oh nothing, besides me about to beat the campaign!" Jess said in a excited voice.
