TW: Panic attack, feeling of being overwhelmed

Pov Nat

I'm entering mine and y/n's room and see her sitting at her desk. In front of her is a notebook, a folder and a schoolbook. Her calculator tells me she's doing math.
There are three other schoolbooks on her desk and some papers are spread around the table. The room is dark except for her desk light.

She's sitting on the chair, her hair in a messy bun and her knees are pulled up, her forehead resting on them.
Her body is shaking a little bit and I close the door silently and approach her. The last notes she wrote down are messy and she crossed them.

Little sobs escape her mouth as I crouch down next to her and turn the chair so she's facing me.
"Hey baby. What's the matter?" I coo, hating to see her like this.
She doesn't reply and just keeps on sobbing. So I gently grab one of her hands and rub my thumb over her knuckles while the other hand cups her hidden face.
Now she lifts her head a little to look at me and I see the tears in her eyes. I wipe them away and lean forward to kiss her forehead.
Her eyes find mine and they lock. Slowly but surely the sobbing becomes less and her eyes stop producing new tears. She leans a little into my hand and I smile softly at her.

"What happened, sweetheart?" I ask again carefully.
"I was doing some math homework and didn't get the hang of it, even though I looked it up in the book and everything. It frustrated me because I am already sitting here for quite a while and I need to know it for my upcoming exam." Her voice cracks a little while she speaks.
I nod while she talks, showing her, I'm listening.
"And then it just was too much?" I ask and she nods.

I get up and open my arms and she takes the silent offer and hugs me tightly.
Her face is pressed into my stomach and I brush through her hair which always calms her down.
When she lets go, I take her face in my hands and place a soft kiss on her lips that still taste a little salty from her tears before.
"Maybe I can help you?" I offer and she nods, getting my chair for me.

After I sat down, I look at her assignment and through her book.
It's been a while since I've done this and university math isn't easy but after a bit of reading, I have an idea and take a pen, starting to solve the first task. She watches me closely and reads what I write.
I finish and ask if she has the solutions. She does and shows them to me so I can see if I did it right. There is one mistake but I figure it out and correct it.

"How did you do that?" She asks silently and looks at me.
I start to explain it to her and check in if she understands. When we get to the end, she nods and a little smile shows on her lips.
"Thank you, Tasha." She says and pecks my lips before she starts the next task.
There are still a lot of tasks to this assignment and considering how long it took, to solve one, I know that it will be quite a while until she's finished.
But I keep my mouth shut because I don't want to frustrate her again. Instead I get up and push my chair back.

"When was the last time you ate?" I ask since she mentioned she was working on this for quite some time.
Not wanting to lose focus, she just shrugs and I nod to myself and tell her, I'll be back in a bit.
I make my way to the kitchen to prepare dinner, since it's 7pm.
Sadly I'm not that talented in the kitchen and my skills are almost not existing but I manage to make some grilled cheese and chop some fruit.
I place it on a tray along with a bottle of water and take it back to our room.

Of course she's still working so I make some room on her desk and put the tray down so she can eat whenever she has time.
Her brows are a little furrowed and lips pursed as she concentrates and I place a kiss on her head before I go to the bathroom.

After I showered, I put on some comfy cloths and sit down on my desk, opposite of her and tie my hair up to work on some files.
Just now I notice the silent music playing in the backroom and smile.
It helps her concentrate to listen to instrumental music and I think it's pretty cute.
The atmosphere is calm I get my work done fast.
