Pov Nat

I'm sitting on our bed and scroll through Netflix, looking for a movie to watch tonight.
It's y/ns and I's movie night of the week and we switch picking out movies. This night it's my turn and I see what our options are.
After I found one that leaves me smirking, I get up and go into the kitchen, looking for y/n. She's talking to Wanda, holding a bag of microwave popcorn in her hands that isn't popped yet.

I come up to her from behind and wrap my arms around her waist, resting my chin on her shoulder and just listening to their conversation.
She absentmindedly starts playing with my fingers and leans a little bit into me.
Wanda smiles at me before returning to look at my girlfriend.
I don't really pay attention to what they're talking about and decide to take care of the popcorn.
As I pull my hands from y/ns waist, she frowns a little but lets me do it, not disturbing her conversation.

But as I grab the popcorn, she looks at me and shakes her head.
"No. You're not on popcorn duty and also you will just burn it." She looks into my eyes and I put my hand onto my chest, pretending to be offended.
"I would never intentionally burn our popcorn."
She chuckles a little at that but shakes her head. "No but you still burnt it the last few times."

"That's true. I could smell it all the way down the hall." Tony agrees with her and points at me while he starts to make himself a sandwich.
I pretend to pout and cross my arms.
Y/ns eyes grow soft and she places a soft kiss on my cheek.
"We don't mean it in a bad way. It's just...somehow it's always burnt when you do it."
"I'm literally following the instructions on the bag." I defend myself but can't help to smile a little which makes my girlfriend relax a little.

And it's not even a lie, I place the bag in the microwave, set the temperature and timer and start it.
But it came out burnt every time, I don't even know why.
"You're just not made for the kitchen, Romanoff." Tony points out and I roll my eyes at him and watch y/n putting the popcorn into the microwave and setting everything.

"You can get the drinks, Tasha." She says to me and I do as told, grabbing a juice and two water bottles from the fridge.
The silent sound of the popcorns popping fills the kitchen.

Steve walks in and eyes the microwave skeptically.
"Doing popcorn again?"
"Yup, it's Friday, means movie night."
Y/n answers and keeps her eyes on the popcorn.
"I don't trust this stuff, it explodes before we eat it...What movie are you guys watching?"
I shortly look at y/n, thinking if I should spoil the surprise.
"Conjuring 2."

She spins around fast and looks a little shocked at me.
"Not a horror movie." She almost whines.
I smile softly at her and nod. "You liked the first one."
"I said I liked the storyline but it was scary."
"We heard that." Tony mutters and Steve nods in agreement.
"You scream pretty loud when you get scared."

I bite my lip a little to hide a smirk but can't keep the comment in.
"That's not the only time she's loud."
Y/ns eyes go big and she shoots me a look.
Tony just shakes his head, takes his sandwich and stops before he leaves. "Maybe you could activate the sound proof feature before you start to scream, whatever reason it may have. I want to be able to concentrate in my lab." With that he leaves.

I smirk at y/n while Steve is just confused but before he can ask, Wanda gestures for him to stay quiet and opens the microwave so our popcorn doesn't burn while y/n still shoots daggers at me with her eyes.
But only for a few more seconds before the corners of her lips lift a little and she smiles at me before she turns around to grab a bowl and pour the popcorn in.
"Have fun, watching the film."
"Thanks Wanda, we will." I assure and go to our bedroom, y/n following me.

We put the popcorn and drinks onto our nightstands and I shut the door.
Y/n looks at the TV and then back to me. "We don't have to if you really don't want to." I assure her and go to her, placing my hands on her upper arms and rubbing them comfortingly.
"No, it's alright. As long as you protect me and be my eyes when I'm not looking." She sighs and I smile, placing a kiss onto her nose.
"Of course, baby. I won't let anything happen to you."
She nods and takes a deep breath before kissing my lips shortly.

After she pulled away, we both change into out pyjamas and get into bed.
I lean against the headboard and open my arms so she can cuddle into me. She moves my legs apart and sits between them, leaning her back against my front.
I place the popcorn in her lap before she pulls my arms around her and cuddles into them.
She pulls the blanket higher and puts the bowl on top, nodding for me to start.

The film starts playing and it's not that scary in the beginning so she eats the popcorn, watching the screen.
I also eat some popcorn, always letting one arm wrapped around her so she feels secure.
As it starts getting scarier, I can feel her tense up and knowingly place the bowl next to her, just in case she jumps because of a scare.

Since I already know this movie, I warn her before the first jump-scare happens and she puts her hands in front of her eyes but still jumps a little at the loud noise.
I pad her legs calmingly and kiss the back of her head to show her that she's still safe.

When the popcorn is all gone, I place the bowl next to our now half empty bottles and wrap my second arm around her, pulling her a little closer.
The movie gets creepier by the minute and she changes her position a little, now almost laying front to front with me and only glancing at the TV.
It's the most adorable thing in the world when she does this.
She's easily scared and always cuddles into me when we watch a scary movie an I love holding her close and making her feel safe and protected.

"You can look now, it's important for the storyline." I tell her and she slowly turns her head, watching the screen and pressing herself into me.
"No...don't...."
Her expression is frightened and I tell her about the upcoming jump-scare and she buries her face in my chest while my hands rub gentle circles on her back to comfort her.
"Shhh, it's all gonna be good in the end." I sooth her and kiss her hair.

She nods slightly and turns her head again and takes my hand in hers.
When it gets a little scarier again, she holds her and mine hand in front of her eyes to cover her sight.
I chuckle a little, she is so cute when she is like this, not because she is scared but because she gets clingier and I find it heart warming that she trusts me enough to let me protect her.

The film continues and comes to an end, her arms are now wrapped around me and her head lays on my chest, turned to the side to watch the TV while my hands still run circles on her back.
I can feel her heart beating in her chest since she is so close to me and it slowly gets back to normal as the end credits play.
"That was scary but again, the storyline was good." She mumbles into my shirt and I nod.

I turn off the TV and slide down a little so I lay comfortable and pull her a little closer to me, still holding her in my arms but now she's laying next to me, her head still on my chest and I know she listens to my heartbeat because it calms her.
Her breath becomes slower and I see her eyes closing.
I kiss her head.
"You're safe with me, I will protect you forever." I whisper in her hair before she hugs me a little tighter, showing she heard it and we both fall asleep.
