Berlin in 2000
Malte was in the 10th grade at a high school in Berlin. One day a new student came into the class. The teacher introduced him as Imre from Romania.
When he introduced himself, his Romanian accent was hard to understand. He was very thin and his skin was sallow. His cheeks were sunken, he had protruding large ears, a long and pointed nose like that of a mouse and his eyes were different colours with which he squinted slightly.
His new classmates often made fun of his appearance and his pronunciation and teased him. Moreover, Imre fell in love with his classmate Violetta. Noticing this, she also pretended to be in love with him, and when he asked her if she would like to accompany him to the school disco, she said yes.
His classmates had planned something cruel to humiliate him. When Violetta went to the school disco with Imre, he had no idea. When they were there, two classmates approached him and held him down. He tried to get away from them, but he was much weaker than the others. Two other students came up to him and poured a large bucket of spoiled milk over him.
They smeared cakes in his face. Because of this humiliation, he began to cry. However, what finally broke his heart was when Violetta and David kissed in front of his eyes. The boys let him go and Violetta took a picture of him. He realized that she was the girlfriend of David, his worst tormentor.
He ran home crying. On the way, he collapsed on a dark side street. A strange man came up to him and asked what terrible thing had happened to him. "None of your business," Imre wailed. "I can help you," he said. "I can imagine what they had done to you and if you want revenge, I have the best tools," he added. "How do you know all this?" Imre asked confused. "You want revenge and I offer you my help, what do you say?" the stranger explained. "What's your name?" Imre asked. "Oh yeah, I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Vladimir," he said."I specialize in revenge and meanness. All you have to do is sign a contract." He handed the boy a dagger. He took it and cut his finger. He then took the blood and used it to draw an unknown rune on Imre's forehead. "Come with me to Transylvania. And that's where your revenge begins," Vladimir said.
So Imre disappeared with the stranger and has never been seen since. Everyone in the class was puzzled. Did they go too far? Did he take his own life?
20 years later from Mr Schmidt's point of view
I was sitting in my office and reviewing my class' math tests when my phone rang. I answered the call: "Hello, what can I do for you?" "You should take your class on a class trip to Transylvania," a mysterious voice said on the phone. "Why should I?" I asked confused. "Well, let's put it this way, a friend of mine has a score to settle and if you don't come, you'll never see your kids again." "I won't be blackmailed," I said angrily. "You don't believe me?" said the voice, amused. "No, of course not," I said. "I know you have two children, a son named Tom who is 10 years old and a daughter named Klara who is 7 years old," the caller said.
