It's thunder storm outside and it's pouring cats and dogs. "Sigh". I'm just watching a raindrop running down the window pane. It's a very rainy and grey 1st October.

I sighed as it flashed again. Suddenly I felt a stitch on my back. When I turned around, I saw my best friend with a pencil in her hand. Oh, I should introduce myself first. My name is Amy Winter. I'm 16 years old and in the 10th grade. I live in Berlin. I have long blond, slightly wavy hair, brown eyes and very light freckles. I'm athletic, slim and I'm not too small or too big.

If I had to describe myself, I would say I'm the kind of person you can talk to about anything, even if it's in the middle of the night. I would also describe myself as a wallflower. I don't like being the centre of attention either.

But now for my friend, who just pricked me in the back with her pencil to draw my attention to her. My girlfriend's name is Katharina Bleier, but everyone calls her Katy. She is also 16 years old. She has shoulder-length black hair, green eyes and always has a cheeky grin on her face. She is about 1.70 m tall. If there's one thing, I'm jealous of, it's her confidence. We've been best friends since kindergarten.

"What's up?" I asked her. "You should turn your attention to Mr Schmidt, because he's finally telling us where the next week's class trip will take us," she answered me.

I now turned my head and looked at our class teacher Mr Schmidt. His full name is Malte Schmidt. He's in his mid-thirties, probably around 36 years old, slim and quite shabby. He has short dark blond hair and large glasses. He teaches Biology and Mathematics.

He always wears plaid shirts, the typical outfit of a math teacher. Of course, since the class trip was announced, we have been speculating about where it would go. To Mallorca, to the mountains, to the sea or any lake. To be honest, I don't care where it goes. "The destination is..." Mr Schmidt began to build up tension and he really likes doing that. Be it the announcement of the grades or the date when the next class test should be written. "...Transylvania." And that hit like a bomb.

I have to admit that I expected everything but this. And the way I judge the looks of my classmates, neither did they. It was very quiet. They were confused and surprised.

Suddenly there was a loud discussion and I felt a stitch in my back again. When I turned around, Katy looked at me with her cheeky grin: "Well, how do you like that? Transylvania," she said. "Hm, it will definitely be interesting. And I have to admit that I really didn't expect that," I said.

The school bell rang and Mr. Schmidt wished us a nice weekend. "Thank God, it's over now," Katy uttered. "Yeah, you always say that at the end of a school day, but it's true," I agreed.

I went outside and put on my hood as it was still raining. I looked back at the school, where a lot of students were getting out looking forward to the weekend.

I said goodbye to Katy and went home. Thank God it's not far, only about 10 minutes, plus or minus. I thought about how it was going to be all the way home.

When I got home, I was alone as my parents were still at work. I chose to watch horror movies and sip a hot peppermint tea. "Hmm, I love peppermint tea," I murmured. Later my parents came home.

We ate dinner together and then they went to parents' evening. I decided to go to bed as I was pretty tired. The week was more than exhausting. In fact, I fell asleep pretty quickly. That night I had restless dreams.

I spent the weekend packing my suitcase. On Sunday, I went to bed early because we, that is, my class, were supposed to meet at the airport at 6:30 am. Unfortunately, falling asleep early didn't quite work out. So, I guess I only slept about 5 hours and I'm more than just tired.

I got up around 5 o'clock. I ate a quick bite and got ready. I put on my blue camouflage pants and a black top. I left my hair open. Just before I left my room, I took a look in the mirror. When I got to the door, I put my sneakers on. "Take care, my big one, and take good care of yourself," my dad said. "Have fun and enjoy," my mum added. "I'll do that," I replied. Then I hugged them. "I love you," I said. "We love you too," they said. I went outside where Katy was already waiting in the car with her mum.

We quickly loaded my suitcase and drove to the airport. Now you're probably wondering why my parents aren't taking me to the airport. Well, they have to go to some appointment right away and that's on the other side of town far from the airport.

When I was in the car, Katy's mum Silke drove off. We listened to the radio and sang along to all the songs, even if it sounded completely wrong and we couldn't hit a note, we had fun.
