We arrived downstairs in the dining room. The others were all looking at us. "And?" Paul wanted to know. But I just shook my head. "Is she...?" Lisa began, "dead? " "Yes," Fabi added. "We should call the police," Leon shouted. "Oh yeah and how? Doesn't that funny guy have our mobile phones?" Sofie bitched at him. "Sofie's right," Katy agreed. "But we just can't do nothing," said Thomas. "Did one of you perhaps see a telephone while exploring the castle yesterday?" asked Simon. "Yes" said Leon. "Where?" we wanted to know. "There is a small alcove on the first floor. There was a rotary phone," he explained to us. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go there," called Christin.
I knew we were not allowed to leave the room, but we were 13 people and we had to get help. We all ran to the first floor, Leon after.
When we arrived, Leon looked very surprised. "Crap! "Somebody's cut the cable," he said. "That can't be true! That was our only connection to the real world," Julian shouted angrily. "And what are we going to do now?" Amelie called desperately. "First of all, we shouldn't despair and, secondly, we should go back to the dining room before Mr Schmidt starts to look for us," said Katy.
I was scared as the killer seemed to be one step ahead of us. He also seemed very unscrupulous. So dejectedly we went back to the dining room.
A short time later Mr. Schmidt joined us, closely followed by Vladimir. "I spoke to Vladimir and decided it would be safer if we all slept in one room tonight," Mr Schmidt said, rubbing his head. "I would say we should all sleep in the salon. There's a fireplace. We could take all the mattresses downstairs and settle in there for the night," Vladimir explained.
No sooner said than done, we got our mattresses, blankets and pillows. I put my mattress by the window, and Fabi next to mine. I looked around the room. There was a dark wallpaper and the few pieces of furniture were also made of dark wood. I saw Vladimir leave the room and go down to the basement. I wonder what's there that we're not allowed to go there.
I looked out the window and could see into the small chapel. There I saw Vladimir. I wondered how he got there all of a sudden, because he went into the basement. Perhaps the basement was connected to the chapel by a secret passage. It looked like he was arguing with someone.
Unfortunately, I couldn't see with whom. I turned away briefly and saw that Simon and Markus were comforting Julian, because he seemed to be troubled by the whole situation. When I looked again at the chapel window, I noticed that Vladimir was gone.
A short time later he came back from the basement. He looked across the room and saw that I was staring at him. I looked around, but nobody seemed to have noticed that he was gone at all.
He brought each of us a plate of tomato soup with two slices of bread. While we ate, he lit the fireplace. There was something soothing about the fire. We lay down to sleep.
I felt a piercing gaze resting on me and looked towards the entrance hall. There were those glowing eyes again and they looked straight at me. Shortly thereafter they disappeared which made me feel afraid. Who or what was that? Also, I feel as if only me could see the eyes, and that worried me a lot. Am I too paranoid? I didn't want to tell the others because I was afraid, they'd think I just wanted attention. But what if that's the killer? Maybe I shouldn't tell anyone for now.
I turned away and tried to sleep. But I couldn't get the whole thing out of my head. I tossed and turned all the time. I also had thoughts of who would be next. I was also afraid that something might happen to them my friends.
I looked into the entrance hall, a small light was shining there. It was Vladimir with a candle. He walked over to us and looked around. I pretended to be asleep because I didn't really feel comfortable with the guy. He definitely knew something I was sure of that.
I blinked so it still looked like I was asleep. He turned and went back into the basement. Personally, I wanted to know what he was doing there, but I was too scared that I might meet the killer. I mean, what if Vladimir was the killer? Then I would run right into his arms.
Finally, tiredness got the better of me and I fell asleep. That night I dreamed of Sarah and Laura's deaths. I woke up from these dreams with a start.
