When I woke up, I felt that I was being hugged. When I turned around, I saw Fabi, I had to smile. My movement woke him up, gave me a sleepy look and grinned at me. I smiled at him too, blushing slightly on my cheeks. As I sat up, my heart stopped and I cried out. Amelie was hanging from the ceiling. She wore her pink belt as a rope around her neck. Her eyes were wide open and stared lifelessly into space and her neck was a little red from the belt. I didn't know if that was her or the killer. My classmates woke up when I screamed.
Amelie's death
I still couldn't believe Sofie was dead. That was all my fault.
The dispute revisited
"We should get out of here, just the two of us," I said to her. "But we can't leave the others behind," Sofie said and looked at Thomas. "Are you still into him?" I asked her amused. No answer, that was clear. "What do you see in him?" I asked her because I really didn't understand. He had black messy hair and dark brown eyes. He was big and strong. "I don't trust him or the others," I said. "Why?" Sophie wanted to know from me. "They are not like us. I mean any of them could have killed the others" I explained to her. She didn't look convinced. "Well, then I could have been the killer too" she said angrily, got up and left the room.
I should have followed her, then I could have helped her and she would still be alive now. That got me down inside because she was like a sister to me. I was lying awake the whole time and that's when I noticed Leon running out of the castle. Outside the sun was slowly rising. I got up and grabbed my favourite belt. I pulled the end of the belt through the loop so that it formed a noose. I climbed onto the table that was in the room. After that I fastened the belt to the ceiling, pulled it around my neck, closed my eyes and jumped off the table. I struggled and gasped for air. I slowly lost consciousness, thought of Sofie and that I would soon be reunited with her.
Back to the present
"Oh God!" Mr Schmidt cried out. "Thomas, Markus help me get her down and the rest of you go to the dining room." Thomas and Markus joined a little later. "Do you think it was her or the killer?" asked Simon. "I don't know. She looked like she was devastated yesterday," I said. "Hey, where's Leon?" asked Thomas.
"I don't know, he was with us last night," said Julian. "I think I know what happened..." Paul began. We looked at him in surprise. "...I think he went into the forest to get help," he added. "What makes you think that?" asked Katy. "That's right, he gave some hints yesterday," said Thomas. "So, he went into the forest alone in the dark?" said Lisa. "Is everyone here?" asked Mr Schmidt. "No, he's gone. We think he went into the forest to get help," said Fabi cautiously. We looked at Mr Schmidt, who turned pale.
He started sobbing. It was all too much for him. We just stood there and looked at Mr Schmidt. After a while it seemed like he'd regained his composure. He took off his glasses and wiped his eyes dry. He took a deep breath and put his glasses back on. "I think we should take turns staying awake during the night. Maybe then we can prevent something like tonight.
I would start and after 2 hours the next one would be up," he explained. "I would do it after you," Thomas said. "Could I talk to you alone for a moment?" Fabi asked me. "Yes," I said and followed him. He pulled me into a small alcove to be undisturbed. "I wanted to tell you something before it's too late and one of us is dead," he began. We were very close and I could smell his scent.
From Fabi's point of view
I pulled her into a small alcove as I wanted to confess my feelings to her. Since we were standing very close to each other, I could inhale her scent. She smelled like strawberries. We locked eyes and I was afraid she wouldn't return my feelings, but I wanted her to know in case one of us died. It was risky as it could jeopardize our friendship.
"I... fell in love with you," I said and it took a lot of courage. I looked at her uncertainly and she started to smile at me. "I fell in love with you too," she replied. So, my fear was completely unfounded. At that moment time seemed to have stood still. I leaned down to her. Our noses touched and I felt her warm breath on my skin.
I came much closer and kissed her. A firework of emotions exploded in me. How many times had I imagined this in sleepless nights and it was better than any dream. We broke up and I hugged her. I was so happy. "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" I whispered in her ear. "Yes," she whispered back with pleasure. I kissed her again before we went back to the others.
