"Hey. You gonna wake up, or what?" Eijeh slowly opened his eyes, feeling like he'd been hit with a bulldozer. He was lying on what seemed like a hospital bed. He had no idea what had happened, but he really wished this would stop happening. He was kind of fed up of waking up on a bed with no clue what had just happened. Suddenly, a pale face loomed into view. "Hey, Sleeping Beauty." Hayden grinned. "Was wondering when you'd wake up."
"What happened? Also, don't call me that."
"Whatever you say, Sleeping Beauty. And you were beaten in Training. Like, really bad." They winced. "I was watching from in here. It was not fun."
"Why were you in here?"
They hesitated. "Let's just say it's really hard to catch a girl who can turn invisible. Especially when your weapons are a few orbs of light. But at least I wasn't knocked out for half an hour." They grinned. "Henceforth Sleeping Beauty is your new official nickname from me."
"I hate you." Eijeh grumbled.
"Nah, you don't. Anyway, we gotta hurry up to get to next class. Lessons supervised by a fox. Hooray."The fox, as it turned out, wasn't a fox. Well. It was. But at the same time, it wasn't. Supervised by Bellatrix the fox, it said on the timetable. Eijeh had been expecting a fox the size of a fox. That looked like a fox. Something with red
Instead, there was a person. With fox features. It was pretty weird, but then she morphed into an actual fox, which satisfied Eijeh. She explained that she was only there to stop things getting too out of hand. "Other than that, I'll let you guys get on with it. It's a class designed to see how good you are with collaborating. Have fun, cubs!" She smiled and retreated to the back of the room. Eijeh couldn't help but like her, and judging from the admiring looks the other students gave her, she was like a mother to them. As Eijeh looked around the room, he realised this class had a lot more students than his previous 2 classes. There were a lot of unfamiliar faces, but a few familiar ones too. He spotted the kid who'd beaten him in Training, now talking earnestly to someone with dark hair, their long silver hair swishing from side to side. A little away from them was Zia, fully visible and entertaining a crowd of people by re-enacting what had happened in Training, complete with side effects. He even spotted Vesper, laughing and joking with her friends, the same ones who'd claimed they were planning to burn down The School during assembly. Eijeh still had no idea if they'd been joking or not. He hoped so.
For the first time, he began to notice the differences in their average uniforms. Zia had a red pleated skirt and a dark blue coat, shorter than Eijeh's and the rest of the boys'. The kid with the silver hair had a uniform featuring a lot of gold and silver on, presumably because they wanted to act rich. Or maybe they were rich. Who knew? Hayden, however, had a white shirt and black trousers like Eijeh, but their coat was currently draped over their arm, and was slate-grey. There were all different types of people, people with dark skin and light skin, different hair lengths and styles, and yet, all of them seemed to feel like they belonged. Like they were family. And, he supposed, some of them were. Like the D'Arques. As he thought that, Vesper stepped onto a box in the centre of the room, her authoritative voice filling the area. "Alright, everyone, seeing as we got new kids here, most of whom have no idea what's going on, and us older kids, most of whom will have forgotten everything during the hols, even though we were here basically the whole time, because they have sieves for brains. So we will start by discussing places to take over first." She glanced towards the back of the room. "You think that's a good idea, Mamatrix?" As she spoke she got a worried crease above her nose, as if worried 'Mamatrix' wouldn't like her idea.
The fox nodded her head. "I think that's a great idea, Vesper. Everyone? Are you okay with that?" Everyone murmured assent. Vesper beamed."I vote we take over that place that used to be called Denmark first! Me and the other asexuals!" A lime-haired kid yelled. "Together, we'll overpower the population!"
"No way! Old Italy first! They invented garlic bread!" Shouted a second.
"Well, I think we should go for the place known as Australia first. I heard they have fluffy little bears that lived in trees." A girl with a soft accent and pink eyes commented.
"That's a myth, stupid." The second rebuked.
"Is it? Oh. In that case, I think we should go for—" She was cut off by everyone yelling their ideas.
Eijeh spotted the box Vesper had been standing on earlier, and ran over to it, dragging a disgruntled Hayden with him. He climbed onto it and yelled as loud as he could.
"EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP!" Everyone turned to him, the first year who was trying to tell them what to do.
"This is a collaboration class, right? So we have to collaborate. Stop arguing and lets go one at a time. Okay?" He found himself glancing to the corner of the room for approval.
"Very good, my cub. You'll make a great leader." She said warmly.
Eijeh felt himself go red at the praise. "So, uh, you heard Mamatrix. Let's do this." The nickname felt natural to him, somehow. He grinned at Hayden, who looked like they might burst with pride.A/N: Hey y'all! Out of interest, where would you propose invading first if you were in that class?
What did you think of Mamatrix?
And, as always, have a great rest of the day/night!
