I LEANED back against the counter next to Carlos, as Mal read the last ingredient for the love spell cookies. "Alright, it says that we still need one tear and I never cry."

"Let's just chop up some onions." Carlos suggested, grabbing one from a bin.

"No. It says that we need one tear of human sadness." Mal sighed, pointing at the sentence. "And this love potion gets the best reviews so we have to follow it exactly."

"A tear's a tear." Jay groaned bored already.

"That's not true, Jay. They both have antibodies and enzymes but an emotional tear has more protein-based hormones than a reflex tear." Evie explained.

"Looks like Doug has been rubbing off on someone." I snickered, listening to how smart she sounded.

"Oh, whatever." She grinned, while Mal added some more flour.

"Yeah, I knew that." Jay smiled, completely lying.

"Did not." Carlos hit his shoulder, reaching over to Dude.

"Yeah, I did." Jay scoffed, looking at the boy.

Suddenly, Lonnie opened the door. "There you are, Mal! I was looking for you." Mal hid her spell book and the two girls straightened out, looking as normal as possible. "You know, all the girls want you to do their hair! Midnight snack, huh? Whatcha guys making?"

"Nothing special. Just cookies." Mal shrugged, fakely.

Then Lonnie dipped her finger and tasted it. The other four's eyes widened, not mines though. I stepped over to the girls.

"Oh. No, no!" The purple-haired one yelled.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Carlos shouted, holding a hand out in a motion to stop, but too late.

Lonnie looked at us like we were crazy. "What? I'm not going to double dip."

"Feel anything?" Evie asked.

"Yeah, like maybe it might be missing something?" Mal added to seem more normal.

"We didn't add the tear, so it doesn't work yet." I whispered into their ears and they nodded.

Jay walked over and leaned on the bar and flirted with her. "Hey, there."

But, fortunately, she ignored it. "It could use some chips."

"Chips?" Jay pondered to himself.

"And those are?" Mal asked politely.

I went over to the boys and whispered to them the same exact thing. "We didn't add the tear, so it doesn't work yet."

"Ohh.." They both sighed in relief.

"Oh, and nice flirting with Lonnie." I complimented Jay sarcastically.

"Like you could do better." He scoffed as I rolled my eyes, I bet I could.

I looked back at Mulan's daughter, who was explaining what these 'chocolate chips' were. "Like, when you're feeling sad, and they're fresh from the oven, with a big old glass of milk and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective and.."

We all looked at her sadly, some of us didn't have mothers, like Jay and I, and some didn't have a nice and loving one, like Mal, Evie, and Carlos.

"Why are you all looking at me like that?" She asked us, obliviously.

"Sorry, but we're not exactly from around here." I sent her a tight-lipped smile.

"Yeah, I know. I just, you know, I thought.. Even villains love their kids." She said enthusiastically and we just looked to the ground. "Oh.. How awful."

I looked back at her and saw a tear about to fall. I strode over to her and wiped it off her cheek, plopping it down into the mix.

"Yeah, well, big bummer, but we have to get these into the oven, so thank you so much for coming by. Really, really have a good night. I'll see you tomorrow. Evil dreams." Mal thanked her, basically shoving her out the door.

"Okay, okay. Good night, see you tomorrow." Lonnie smiled opening the door and leaving.

"Good catch, Jinx." Evie complimented me referring to how I got the tear.

"Thanks, Eve."

Mal clapped her hands, "Okay, boys, cookie sheet! Evie oven!"

"Yes, ma'am." E mocked bringing over the bowl.

We stayed up about maybe 3 hours past curfew thanks to how slow this place's oven was and how slow we worked to make one batch of cookies.

This morning I chose to wear a black long hoodie zip-up, with the sleeves pushed up to my elbows, grey cargo pants, a white cropped shirt, and red fingerless gloves, along with added gold jewelry.

I and Jay walked over to Mal, who was opening her locker. Jay spoke up first, dropping his bag into his hand limply. "Are you feeling kind of weird about this? I mean, it's not so bad here, you know." He asked Mal, as he threw an arm over my shoulders, in a brotherly manner of course.

"Are you insane?" Mal asked forehead creased.

"Well, technically yeah." I chuckled.

"Long live evil! You're mean, you're awful. You're bad news." She raised a fist, shaking it a bit and snapped her fingers in our faces, "Snap out of it!"

"Thanks, Mal. I needed that." We all laughed a little before Jay and I walked off, but not far.

"So, what's with you and Carlos?" He asked, intrigued.

"What are you talking about?" I chuckled, shaking my head and furrowing my brows.

"You were touching his hair the other day and you're always near him, you know what I mean." Jay scoffed.

"Well, I could touch your hair, but I know you care about it so much like it's Dude to Carlos." I raised a hand up to his hair and he backed away. "See?"

"Not the point." He sighed, hitting my arm gently.

I groaned, "I don't know. I think I like him or I just like him as a friend. I don't know! I've never really had a friend that was a boy, before you guys at least, but then I never really was alone with either you or Carlos. And now I always am.

"Well, how do you feel with me?"

"Like your my brother or something along the lines of that." I shrugged.

"And Carlos?"

"More than a friend." I spat out before thinking of my words, I slapped a hand over my mouth.

"Ha!" Jay laughed pointing a finger at me.

"Whatever, shut up! I'm not making the first move, though." I punched his shoulder harshly as I noticed Evie and a certain 'more than a friend' arrived near.

I looked to my right and saw that Ben had taken a bite of our bait. We four walked over to the two and stood behind one of them. Mal took his cookie away before he could go insane.

"How you feeling, bro?" Jay asked him, placing his hands on his shoulder and arm.

"I feel.. I feel.. I feel like singing your name. Mal! Mal!" He yelled before Mal covered his mouth.

"Oops, maybe too much sugar?" I guess looking over at the four. "Don't you guys have a game, now?" I reminded the guys.

"Shoot!" Jay exclaimed before running to the locker rooms while dragging Ben by the arm.

"Right, thanks Jinx!" Carlos thanked me before running out, but not before kissing me on the cheek.

I froze and a shade of pink dusted my cheeks, I looked behind me but he was already gone. I turned back around and saw the girls smiling at me. "What?"

"Carlinx." Evie grinned.

"Oh, I like that." Mal confessed looking back at Evie and they started to chat about me and Carlos.

I rolled my eyes, and decided to get a seat for the game. "I'll see you guys at the game."
