I PUSHED myself off the fence with my foot, while I stuck my pencil in b sketchbook and shoved it into my bag. I walked out of the booth and almost out the door when Carlos halted me.

"Jinx! Jinx, hey!" He called out, causing me to turn around.

"Hi, Carlos. What's up?" I asked.

He stepped closer, "Not much, you?"

"Eh, same. Just a lot of reading, drawing, helping, oh! Speaking of helping, Evie needed me to sketch some more dresses for her." Most of the time I drew her designs out while she explained them. I started to turn to the door, when he stopped me again.

"Wait, wait, Jinx!" He called out placing his gear down on a patterned cube.

"Oh! Sorry. Right, did you need to tell me something?" My brows knitted together.

"I just wanted to ask..if you would, uh.." Carlos rubbed the back of his neck looking down.

"Carlos, whatever it is I probably won't say 'no'. I'm not that cruel." I chuckled, reassuring him.

"If you would, uh, walk back to my dorm with me?" He spat out, clearly, it wasn't what he wanted to say but whatever, I guess.

"Sure." I smiled tightly and in confusion, we usually do all the time anyway given that we basically always had the same classes, so why ask?

"O-Ok, thanks." Carlos thanked me nervously.

I opened my dorm room door and saw Evie, picking out fabrics for, yet, another dress. "I'm back."

"What took you so long?" She chuckled, not looking up from the colours.

"Sorry, I was walking back with Carlos. He's been acting kind of weird today." I shrugged.

"Eh, he's probably excited about Cotillion." Evie brushed off my comment.

"I guess, so let's get to drawing designs! Not very much time left." I reminded her.

"Right." She nodded.

After an hour or two, Evie went to go hang out with Doug and I decided to go and do the same with Carlos. I walked down the hall and to his dorm. I knocked on the door three times, paused, then two more. I always knocked like this so people knew it was me.

"You can come in, Jinx!" I heard an unknown voice say from the other side of the door, slightly muffled.

I opened the door and was met by Carlos glaring at Dude. "Who just said that?" I asked, knowing it wasn't the whited-haired boy's.

"It was me!" Dude replied and my eyes widened.

"Since when could he talk?" I questioned Carlos.

"As of like two hours ago." He sighed.

"Anyway.. are you okay? You've been acting odd today." I said closing the door behind me and dropping my bag on a chair nearby.

"Y-Yeah, just nervous, I guess." He shrugged, scratching behind Dude's ears.

"About Cotillion?" I spoke, walking over and sitting beside him on the edge of his bed.

"Uh, yep, Cotillion." He nodded shyly.

"Yeah, it's very exciting and nerve-wracking." I sighed, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry, that wasn't the real reason I was acting weird." He breathed out, looking down at his hands in his lap.
