Chap_33. New Physician

Entering the house, Maya was somewhat confused to see Riya and Mahin. They were sitting in the living room with Ema.

Seeing her at the entrance, Ema spoke up, “Maya, look who's here.” She could feel her excitement but she wondered the reason behind it.

Riya spoke up, “Actually we were passing by so just thought of meeting you all.”

Maya got uttering making a confused face, “You knew the address of my place?”

Riya lied, “Yeah. With Nayeem, I have visited here once.” immediately and so confidently that Maya didn’t get to doubt let alone say something.

As she thought it was in her forgotten memory, she couldn’t even doubt on her.

“I was just asking normally. Anyways you two sit. I will be back.” Maya forwarded towards her room hurriedly to get freshen up.

When Maya got out of their sight, Ema asked Riya, “When did you visit us Riya?”

Riya just rolled her eyes as she found two pairs of confused eyes rooted on her. She couldn’t believe Mahin and Ema also believed her lie.

She just shrugged off. Ema and Mahin turned to each other and then laughed out.

Maya got back there after a few minutes and the three of them gossiped for a while.

When Riya talked about leaving, Ema asked them to stay, “It’s quite late, Riya. Why don’t you guys stay here tonight?”

Maya also joined her, “That will be great. Stay here.”

Riya and Mahin looked at each other and then nodded thoughtfully. Leaving Mahin and Riya with themselves, Ema and Maya forwarded towards the kitchen to get the dinner ready.

After some time Riya also joined them and asked Ema to rest. Maya spoke up, “Vabi, you go. Give vai medicine. We will complete the work here.”

Nodding at them, Ema left the kitchen and walked to their room. Mahin followed her.

After giving medicine to Zareef, Ema and Mahin sat by his bedside.

Zareef was giving Mahin a somewhat confused look so he introduced himself, “I don’t know whether you have known Riya, I am her husband.”

Zareef weakly smiled but when he uttered the next words, “You can say I am Khushi’s brother also. Do you know Khushi? Arnav’s wife?”, his smile faded away instantly.

He seemed to be trying to utter something but was terribly failing which didn’t go unnoticed by Mahin and Ema.

While fighting her tears back, Ema spoke up, “Is the girl living with us now as Maya is actually Khushi, not our Maya, Zareef?”

A drop of tear rolled down his cheek. Wiping off the tear, Ema turned to Mahin. Her eyes were teary also. Zareef’s unsteady breathing brought their attention back to him. Mahin got nearer, tried to calm him.

Hurriedly Ema got the medicine out of the drawer of the bedside table and made it taken by Zareef. This medicine was prescribed to Zareef for such situations.

After a while, his unsteady breathing got back to somewhat normal but sadness from his eyes didn’t budge.

Mahin got standing there, watching them with mixed emotions. He could feel their love for Maya but he couldn’t get himself to utter anything to them.

“So, how’s going everything, Maya?” Riya spoke up in a casual tone while working on a chopping board with a knife.
