Seeing Maya silent, Nayeem tried to start a conversation himself. "You liked the party?"

Maya faced Nayeem for a moment, "Hmm. Pretty much." and then again turned on her side, looking outside. Though it was not his expected answer, he forced a smile, "That's great, then."

Remembering something, Maya spoke up casually as she again turned to him, "Nayeem, isn't this pendant beautiful?" She held the pendant between her fingers.

"Yeah. It is." Nayeem glanced at Maya and the pendant on her neck for once and then again looked forward on the road. "I have bought it a few days back." She told it out of nowhere to hear something from Nayeem.

"Good choice, love. It's beautiful." Nayeem replied with a little bit of a smile which fell Maya deep in thought.

This was far away from her expected answer but she chose to remain silent.

Thoughts were lingering in her mind anyway. Nayeem said to her that he bought her it then! Did he forget it!

Dropping Maya at her place, Nayeem drove to his place.

His parents were waiting for him. Seeing him at the entrance, his mother walked near, "Where were you till this late?"

"We had a business party to attend." Nayeem replied coldly and started taking steps towards his room.

His father's voice got him stopped at his track, "Didn't it occur to you that you should have informed us for once?"

He stared at his father and reminded him with a serious expression, "Don't act as you care. Because if you cared, you would have listened to me back then."

His father was about to shout at him but his mother beat him to it, "Nayeem, behave. We did what was right. There were issues with Maya's mental condition and we just didn't want to stress her out more. Just because she had forgotten everything, it doesn't give you any right to feed her bunches of lies."

Nayeem seemed to be desperate to get his intention clear, "Mom, I love her."

His father spoke up, "Really? Last time I checked, you cheated on her." Sarcasm and anger got dripping from his voice. Nayeem tried to say something, "Mistake happens and I regret.."

His father didn't let him get complete, "It's already more than good enough that Maya is still considering you for giving a chance. Don't force her." and left from there and his mother trailed behind him.

Nayeem got into his room and sat on the recliner without getting freshen up or something.

The biggest regret started making its way in his mind again.

He should have married her before getting her in her place or better yet just got her here with him.

Two years back when he attended the wedding function of his friend, he met with the girl with whom he had a one night stand. Maya was talking to someone when that girl reached him, "Hey, Nayeem."

Looking at Maya from the corner of his eyes, he also walked towards that girl and uttered, "Follow me." as he left the room.

Just when he was at the entrance, about to get out of the hall room, Maya's phone rang off.

It was Zareef. She attended the call but because of the music and murmuring of people, she was not understanding what Zareef was saying.

Before getting out of the hall room, she turned to the place where Nayeem was standing. But he was not there.

"Where did he go?" she got asking herself.
