Chap_26. Accidents

Entering the private room of the restaurant, Maya was shocked. It was all dark. Being confused, she turned to Nayeem. He got hold of her and made her take a few steps into the room and the lights were lit on automatically.

She looked all around the room getting shocked. It was decorated beautifully with lights, flowers, balloons, and so on. The floor was covered with rose petals.

Wandering her eyes, Maya’s gaze got rooted on Nayeem. He was on one knee on the floor.

Her eyes got widened when Nayeem held a box in front of her. A sparkling ring got revealed from the box. He uttered with a little bit of a smile, “Let’s get married now.”

Muhib was about to follow Arnav out but Akash spoke up, “Vai, you stay. We will go.”

Muhib nodded at them and Akash and Mahin rushed out of the building.

The first thing they checked was Arnav’s car which was not there anymore. They also got into a car and drove away following the same direction Arnav took knowing from the guard.

But they didn’t get to find his car and got stopped at the point where the road parted into ways.

Arnav stopped his car at a little distance from Maya’s place and then walked towards her house. Standing by the door, he pressed the calling bell and kept waiting for Ema to open it.

He knew Maya was not home now. Her smiling face was not leaving his mind as she was extending her hand towards Nayeem must be agreeing to get married to him as he thought.

Thinking it of Maya and she was back early, Ema got relieved to some extent.

She opened the door, “You are ea..”

Her latter words got dried down her throat as she found somewhat restless Arnav standing at the doorway.

“Arnav, you this time? Anyways Maya isn't home now.” She uttered confusedly.

Only to get her even more confused, Arnav replied, “I know that. I am here to meet you.”

Raising her brows, Ema pointed at her, “Me?”

“Yes. I have something to talk to you about. Please?” There was something on Arnav’s face that compelled Ema to say, “Come in.”

Ema made Arnav sit in the living room and she also sat in front of him, “What do you want to talk to me?”

Arnav took out his wallet and held it up in front of Ema. Giving him a confused look, Ema turned to the wallet.

A family photograph came into her sight and then wandering her eyes, she saw it where Arnav was pointing her to see. A smiling face of a girl got into her sight who looked the same as Maya.

She was standing beside Arnav and both of them were looking at each other with all happy faces. Ema got staring at the picture. Arnav spoke up then, “She is my wife, Khushi.”

Ema turned to Arnav and got flickering her eyes between the picture and him for few times.

The Arnav she was seeing in the picture was looking so happy, eyes twinkling. But as she was seeing him sitting in front of her, he looked restless, eyes showing grief and emptiness.

Ema spoke up, “Maya told me about Khushi but Arnav..”

Arnav cut in between, “How did Maya get Brain aneurysm?”

Ema got shocked. This was something Maya promised not to talk to anyone ever after Zareef’s accident that day. As the memory made its way to her mind, she got sad.
