Chap_31. DNA Test

Maya stood there silently with her eyes glued to the car. The person sitting inside must be Arnav. But why would he be here? He had already believed I am not her.

Maya thought.

It might be her seeing things or something. She shrugged off and calmed herself. Her focus again turned to the pendant and Nayeem’s word.

She didn’t buy it a few days back rather it was a gift from Nayeem. He said that himself once. Did he forget or did he lie? But why would he lie?

Many questions were crossing her mind and every single time the smiling face of Khushi wearing that pendant, standing with Arnav happily popped into her mind.

When she tried to remember when Nayeem had gifted her the pendant as usual she could feel the giddiness and headache were on their way.

Letting out a sigh, she got back to her room but not before glancing at the car for the last time. It was still there.

Shrugging off the thought, she took her medicine and lied down on her bed. Soon sleep engulfed her.

Until the light of Maya’s room turned off, Arnav remained there and then drove back to his place.

When he entered his place, it was past midnight. No one got into his sight in the living room. Maybe everyone fell asleep. He thought and made his way to his room but found everyone there.

With the confirmed information he left behind to them earlier, there was no way they would fall asleep like this. They kept waiting for Arnav impatiently.

At first, Arnav was quite shocked but afterward got relaxed as it was more likely of them.

After talking for a while on a specific topic, they left for their respective rooms. Getting freshen up, Arnav also lied down on the bed.

His eyes on the side where Khushi used to sleep, his hand forwarded on its own to caresse the place as he got uttering, “Soon, you will be back to your place, Khushi. It’s my promise to you. Just wait a little bit, love.”

Early in the morning, Maya woke up having a dream which was more like a nightmare.

She was panicked and all sweating. Her heartbeat was unsteady.

Nothing happened. It’s just a dream.

A nightmare. Everything is fine.

Uttering these for umpteenth times, she calmed herself.

Getting a deep breath, she got out of her comforter and got down from the bed and walked to the door. She tiptoed to Zareef’s room to check on them.

She found them sleeping peacefully and letting out a sigh of relief, she got back to her room.

Getting freshen up, she made ablution and said her prayer. Then she walked towards the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

When she was almost done, Ema got there. Seeing her kitchen, she walked to her.

“Maya, why are you up so early today? Why are you doing this? I was going to do it now.”

Maya spoke up normally while stirring the vegetable that she was making, “I just got awaken up early today, Vabi. I feel like making breakfast and came here. It’s almost done now.”

“Okay. You go and freshen up now. I am setting the table when I will be done with it. You need to go to the office also.”

Nodding at her, Maya left the kitchen and walked to her room.
