Chap_34. Curiosity

While working in the kitchen, Maya asked Riya all of a sudden, “Do you know Nayeem well?”

“Um..?” Riya was confused.

“I mean you two seemed to be good friends. See, you invited him to your wedding, he brought you here with him and all so I thought..”

We aren’t friends. It’s just he helped my father once and treated me like a friend so I tried to behave likewise. But now I think he might be the one to do something to get my Dad sick and then he did the help drama and all to get that contract from him.

This thought got her glare at Nayeem who was smilingly talking to Ema and Mahin.

When she saw Mahin looking at her with a raised brow, she got out of her trance and shook her head, and turned to Maya who was busy with salting a curry.

Riya spoke up, “I guess you can say that. Why are you asking..I mean what of it by the way?”

Maya stirred the curry with a spatula and then turned to face her, “Nothing much. How do you think of him?”

“Sorry?” Riya sounded utterly confused. She had no idea where their conversation was heading to.

“You know..It’s just I am very confused about him.” As Maya uttered this, Riya tilted her head to her only to find her looking at Nayeem.

Riya followed her gaze and uttered, “Don’t stress yourself over this reason. Give yourself some time and give it a break for now.”

This was not something Maya was expecting from Riya. She thought Riya would get on trying to convince her about Nayeem saying he was a good guy and all. After all, she was Nayeem’s friend. But no..

Maya gave Riya a confused look only to get her utter, “I mean you should now focus on your career and Zareef Vai. We will be taking him to Dr. Haseem tomorrow. Let’s hope for a piece of good news from her now.”

Maya thoughtfully nodded and spoke up, “Yeah. Let’s hope Vai will get back soon and we will be a happy family once again.”

“Inshaallah. You will find your happy family back again, Khushi.”

Riya smiled at her and uttered the name in an inaudible voice.

Yeah, let’s just hope that. The matter of Nayeem can be handled later. I don’t want to think of him now.

Maya got support from within which also relieved her utterly.

Ema, Mahin and Nayeem normally continued talking about random kinds of stuff and at some point, Ema got up, “I should check on them in the kitchen. You two continue.” and made her way to the kitchen.

Tomorrow Zareef is going to get a new physician that means...

Mahin waited for Nayeem to say something but when he didn’t utter anything for a while rather seemed to be lost in some thoughts, Mahin got uttering, “Should I help you with something?”

Nayeem’s trance of thought got broken, “Umm?”

Mahin spoke up with a clueless expression, “What are thinking to be this lost? I was saying about Zareef Vai. Are you going to accompany us to the hospital? If you are busy with something, then we will handle it. You can count on us.”

“No. I am not busy at all. After all, it’s about Zareef. Of course, I will be with you.”

This is what we want Nayeem.

Mahin nodded, “That’s good then.”

After taking dinner together, Nayeem left. He was already annoyed his intention of coming here was already destroyed by them and on top of that, they were thinking of taking Zareef to the hospital to some physician he didn’t even know.
