Chap_40. A Proposal

"Actually, we are here today with a proposal." Kowshik said with a little bit of smile.

"Proposal?" Muhib asked with a confused expression on his face mirroring others sitting there.

"Yes. A marriage proposal."

"Marriage proposal! For whom?" Areesha asked.

"Arnav and Khushi."

"But Vai.." Khushi thought of saying something but words got died down when her mind registered what Kowshik said actually.

Areesha glanced at Arnav and Khushi by turn while she decided whether to agree to them.

The decision got finalised about the recurrence of their marriage after 10 days.

Till this point, Arnav was all okay. Not just okay but he was quite excited.

But when Zareef wished to have Khushi staying at Malik Mansion with them till the wedding, his excitement faded in the thin air.

He was about to deny it right there but got interrupted. He stared at Khushi, taken aback as she agreed with them, "Okay."

But he was not okay with it. Arnav was so tempted to say that but when he saw Zareef staring at Khushi with a smile but teary eyes, he couldn’t.

But still..

Khushi should have hesitated before agreeing to live without him even if it was only for a few days.

After dinner, Zareef spoke up, "Khushi, we should leave now, dear. It’s getting late."

Nodding and saying about packing her stuffs, Khushi left for upstairs. When she was almost done packing, Arnav entered the room.

"Ready to leave?"
Arnav’s sudden voice startled Khushi. She turned to face Arnav who was holding an impassive expression.

If anyone who didn’t know Arnav well would think he was just asking but Khushi was seeing through it. He was not at all okay with this.

"Arnav, you know Zareef Vai..." Khushi tried to justify her decision but Arnav didn’t let her, "I know but.."

Sometimes, her nature of caring for everyone really irritated him though it was the reason, he loved her even more.

"Be back soon." Arnav said though he wished he didn’t have to let her not even go.

"I will." Khushi uttered as took two steps and hugged Arnav tightly.

When Areesha called out Khushi’s name from downstairs, their blissful moment came to an end.

"You are leaving again?" Esha almost cried as Khushi said about leaving.

After so much of convincing and promising to be back soon, Khushi was able to take her leave from Esha.

As much as Arnav tried to convince himself these ten days would pass quickly, just night without her seemed to be taking eternity to come to an end.

Though Khushi was also feeling the same, she couldn’t do otherwise. With everyone around, she couldn’t even talk to Arnav over phone that much.

Next Day

It was late at night but Khushi was still awake. She thought of calling Arnav but she dropped the idea as she checked her phone. No call or message from Arnav.

Maybe he fell asleep. He was supposed to be tired after having a hectic day at office.

So, disturbing him between his sleep didn’t occur to be good to her.
