You ever hear a story that is so unbelievable that you're impressed with the person telling it for their creativity, because ain't no way.... nah this shyt wasn't even possible because if it was, I'll admit that Seren gained a little of my respect for even stepping to Tavierre with that bullshyt. I'll let Tavierre tell you himself what happened but just know when you hear it, you'll understand why I'm going to beat the fuck out of that nigga the very next time I saw him.... Anyways while Chimere was laughing, I turned my attention to the door... someone was approaching but I recognized his footsteps so I relaxed a little as my dad approached the door. Seeing my dad brought a sense of calm to this situation, I felt like that scared 10-year-old who cried himself to sleep the first night and only felt safe when my dad came and sat up with me all night. We filled him in on what we felt, again I had left out the Kreylan part of the issue because I wasn't entirely sure how I wanted to deal with it, Tavierre was pissed that we hadn't told him about the presence that was watching us but he had other things he needed to worry about. Once we were finished my dad paced around the living room, he didn't say a word yet radiated anger and power, whatever type of being my father was, I never cared but today was the first day I actually felt curious....

"I saw we do a sweep of the area, split up into teams; Chi and Tavi, Uzi you're with me.... just to make sure it's really gone..... Once we're sure that it's no longer around and that it didn't leave anything behind, tomorrow I'll have this witch I know come through and place a protection spell around here, then we'll go to Chi and Tavi's places and do the same thing." My dad said.

"That's not needed... I can look after myself." Chimere said confidently, but he fell back with a single glance from our dad. "I'm just saying, we're not even entirely sure we felt something, I don't wanna overreact." Chimere said shrugging.

"Better safe than sorry... Chimere, you and Tavi will take the outer perimeter, me and Uziel will take the interior." My dad said and Chimere nodded before he and Tavi took off out the front door, by the time me and my dad reached the porch they were already small dots in the distance. "Those are your brothers." He said shaking his head.

"Nigga, those are your sons.... you think you can keep up old man?" I asked even though he didn't look a day over thirty.

"True, but I think we should take our time... don't wanna miss anything." He said walking slowly and I knew my dad well enough to know that he wanted to talk. We reached the very edge of my property and started walking around in a loop, looking for.... something, what that thing was, I wasn't entirely sure. "So what's on your mind Uzi? I can tell something is bothering you." He asked as we moved through the trees.

"Why us? I mean... why werewolves... I never understood why you took us three in, specifically knowing that we were all..... different." I said avoiding his eyes, but my dad let out a loud laugh, a laugh that warmed my entire body.

"You mean gay... y'all are all gay, and there's nothing wrong with that. As you and your brothers constantly remind me, I'm old.... but I don't think y'all can truly grasp how old I really am..... In my very long life, I've learned that sex gets boring after a while, so I switch between men and women, I've been in love twice.... Once with a woman, a witch who tragically died... I don't like to talk about it and the second with a man..... or rather....."

"A werewolf?" I asked and he nodded. "What happened to him?" I asked feeling like I was really getting to know my dad, I mean other than the things he's taught me, I mean getting to know his backstory.

"I crossed the around... person and he paid the price." My dad said and there was something about the way he said 'person' it made me feel like whatever it was, that was the kindest way to describe them. "As he died, I made a promise to look after any wolves like him, the ones outcast from their packs, the lone wolves who were ostracized for being.... different." He said mimicking me but I could also hear the pain in his voice.
