Recap:

I woke as the light seeped through the windows. Looking around I saw that Sandy and the other kids had been taken from the couch. I felt something slightly heavy against my leg which caused me to look down only for my eyes to meet the back of Phillipe's head...

Chapter 15 "If Only You"

Still a bit sleepy I ran my hand lazily through his hair, feeling the soft curls between my fingers as I watched the sun waking up the world and the night saying farewell, for now. It had always been comforting to see the dawn of a new day since it meant I would live for about twelve more hours. But it also brought one of my most precious moments with Nataniel.

"You see the dawn Vie?" he asked and I nodded "Well, that's where mom, dad and Eve are and where all people you love go after they die remember that. For I will be there someday and I expect you to remember that I will always watch over you"

I nodded again before I asked "Why can't I see their faces in the sun? Why does it hurt to look?"

He chuckled "Because that's how bright their love for you is"

I smiled slightly at the memory, it had been three years since that time.

"You're smiling, it's unusual" a sleepy voice said.

My gaze trailed down to meet with Philipe's eyes dark golden eyes and I quickly took my fingers out of his dark hair.

"It's nice" he said and then he turned towards the window ones again.

I stared at him for a moment. So he's not cold to me anymore? That's new or maybe he has gotten over his stupid pride... or maybe he just has heavy mood swings? Maybe he's bipolar? But for some reason I couldn't bring myself to walk away from the couch or to push him of.

"I told you that you like him. Now hurry up and kiss him!" Oh no! The voice is back in my head again!

"If you complete the mating I will disappear!" said the voice in a singsong tone.

Stay out!

That did it, the voice was finally became quiet. Unconsciously I had put my hand back into his soft hair and jet again concentrating on the colors of this new day.

"You know that really feels good" Phillipe mumbled. "Are you still angry with me?"

I didn't answer at first but then I oddly enough said "No, are you?" I mean why would I care?

"No, I could never stay mad at you for long. So... how did your evening with the kids go? Did you have fun?"

This time I didn't hesitate "It was okay, the children are kind of funny"

"So what did you do?"

"I told them a story"

"What story did you tell them?" he looked up at me. His eyes peering through me.

"They asked for my story" I said blankly.

"May I hear it?"

I looked down at him "No"

"Would you like to hear mine?"

I didn't answer that and so he started to tell me his story. "I was born here in the pack house, it's uncommon for werewolves to give birth in a hospital. Just think about it what if the female suddenly turned into a huge wolf that would certainly give the Doc and the nurses a scare for life." He chuckled before he frowned and continued.
