Chapter 6 "A Meeting I Never Forget"
I slowly looked at the big clock that was hanging on one of the walls. It was dented and in some places broken, but in some mysterious way it still worked. The black clock viewer pointed at four minutes in three. I were at first wondering if I should acct like I hadn't found the note and just walk home. After a lot of time persuading my self I finally went.
The football field was quite big, I mean with the stands and all. The wind tore my hair and happily blew it in my face.
I felt a small noise behind my back. I turned around expecting it to be Phillipe standing there with a crocked smile. It wasn''t.
The man that where standing behind me was tall and had a long beard. At that moment I had only two words in my mind. Wizard. Run.
And I ran. I ran for my life down the stares into the football field. Suddenly I felt a strong hit from behind and I fell to the ground. I hate magic.
The plaster on my arm broke when I hit the ground. But maybe it was good since my arm had allready healed in super speed.
"My dear, haven't you heard? You can't out run a wizard" he chuckled.
'Oh here we go again' I thought to my self. Why was it that wizards always were so complacent? Always thinking of them self.
I felt steps walking towards me. The owner of the steps took a hard grip on my hair and pulled me to my feet. If I hadn't been crippled by the wizard, I think I would have screamed out in pain. The one who had pulled me up was now holding me captive in his arms.
"So what are we going to do with you now?" The wizard said with his cruel voice.
"Leave her alone!" I heard a familiar voice scream. Phillipe.
"Shut up!" Someone said to him. I tried to turn my head in their direction. Only to see Phillipe all beaten up.
"She hasn't done any thing! She is innocent!" he continued.
"Didn't I tell you to shut your big mouth!" his captor snapped at him.
In a very calm and smooth way the wizard came over to him. He took Phillipe's face between his fingers and forced him to look first at his grim face -that in this very moment looked amused- and then at me.
"Do you even know her?"
Phillipe didn't answer but it was clear to me that he didn't pay much attention to what the wizard was saying. He were only watching me, for some unowned reason.
"She has been lying to you all the time. Her name is not Everlyn that was here dead sister's. Her name is Victoria Anna Clarisse Blackwing. Night status: Dhampir."
I saw how those word where hurting him, but I didn't know why.
"Go to hell" Phillipe hissed between his teethes.
"Grant, release the girl for now she wont go anywhere anyway, and learn this rude werewolf a lesson he wont forget."
When the guard released me I fell to the ground again. I looked around, stupid wizard he didn't take my bag. I smiled. In my bag I had hid my silver claws, a weapon for dhampirs only.
I took them out and attached them to my forehands and then stood up. One good thing with wizard were that they never knew when their magic stopped working.
I could easy go for their backs, it would only be one guard and Phillipe who would see my attack. My first would be the wizard. His back were the perfect target for my claws.
I flung myself at him. I killing first him and then the other guard with some quick moves with my claws. It was then I turned to the last guard. He was standing with a knife against Phillipe's throat.
"ONE MORE STEP AND I KILL THE BOY!" he were in panic. Good.
"Well what are you going to accomplish by doing that? I would only kill you slower" I said. I didn't know where my blood lust came from but I knew that if he even touched Phil I would kill him.
Wait, I had given him a nickname?
That was what half of my brain were thinking. The other half were making it self more useful right now, thinking of different ways to kill him and still make Phillipe live.
I decided to bite him from behind, just hoping that he wasn't a vampire. Yes dhampirs could bite. We were quite poisonous, like a deadly serpent, but we didn't drink blood.
I lunged forward and were behind his back in a second. Then I bit him. Hard. He screamed in agony. The venom was devastating. He fell to the ground still holding the knife to Phillipe's throat.
"Apparently not vampire" I mumbled.
Phillipe sat up and looked at me. "What did you do to him?"
"I bit him" I replied and clapped my teethes together with a smile. "We have to move the bodies" I continued.
"Why?"
"Hmm?"
"Why didn't you tell me? Why did you have to kill them?"
"Tell you what? My name? My Night-status? It very simple in fact, I do not have a death wish. And why I killed them? You know why. Besides my debt is paid now. A life for a life." I said simply.
"You could have told me"
"So you could had run to the council and report? I don't think so"
"Why is it that you don trust anyone?!"
"What do you think? Did you think that my kind were living like your's do? Did you think we were allowed to do what we wanted? The answer is my people are slaves Phillipe, we don't have free will in the Night World. That's why so many of ous are trying to runaway, knowing that if we got caught we would most likely be executed!"
"Then why the hell you?" he said falling back on the ground from his sitting position.
"What exactly do you mean?"
"Why the hell are you my mate? Your not even of my kind. Your half leech for God's sake!"
"Your what?" I hissed.
"My mate" he said in such a loving tone that he scared me.
So I ran for the second time today. This time there were nobody stopping me.
I ran to the church since most of the nighters wasn't very fond of the whole idea of holy ground.
I went to a little place in the church where you could lit a candle for those you lost. I lit one candle and after starring at it for a while, remembering. Remembering my family and friend that had died helping me to flee. I walked outside the church safe walls. Out into the sunset.
