Chapter 7 "Meet The Pack"

I thought of climbing up into the graveyards big oak but decided that when the pastor came in the morning to check on the property. I believe it would not turn into a so pleasant meeting.

I passed the graves and made my way to the main gate. Walking through I closed it behind me carefully, not making more sound then the tiny chirping from the iron gate.

"So... what were you doing here anyway?" a clear voice said from behind.

I jumped and spun around.

And there leaning nonchalantly against the iron fence Phillipe were.

"What are you doing here?" I said and made a gesture towards the church behind my back.

"What do you think?" he said sarcastically.

"I don't know. But I would like being alone now. Excuse me" I said not waiting for his answer, not caring.

He grabbed me by my arm "You're so not walking away from this Everlyn!"

"To late Phil. And by now you should know that is not my name" I said ripping my arm out of his grip. Then I walked away from him towards the woods.

"You're not going out of here that way" I heard Phillipe say from behind and as he said those words a pack of big wolfs came out of the forest. Werewolves.

How foolish I had been, of course he wasn't traveling alone.

I had just assumed that he were a rogue. Stupid, stupid me. Of course he wasn't.

I started backing so the wolfs wouldn't come to near me. I wished that I had brought my crossbow with me because when you battle with werewolves you really shouldn't go into a close combat, that was were they fought the best.

"Victoria I know you fell threatened right now, but can you just calm down" he said trying to calm me with out any success.

My hand traveled down to my boots and I took out a long silver knife. This made one of the smaller wolfs aggressive.

Phillipe were to busy worrying about me that he didn't notice the growling pack member.

The wolf came out of the shadows and into the glimmering streetlight. It's silver fur shining dimly.

The silver fur shoot into the air. I raised my weapon. The blade glimmered in the light, it was then Phillipe finally noticed.

"Erica! Victoria no! Don't!" I heard that he were commanding us. An Alphas voice.

But it where to late. Her fangs had already berried in my shoulder and my knife in her side. I twisted blade, it made her wimp in pain.

Her fangs let me go and I twisted it ones again and tried to push her off my chest.

"Erica! Erica!" I heard a dark voice screaming, worried.

"Stay back James!" Phillipe said, the man named James stopped instantly.

"Victoria I know you hate me right now but you need to listen to me. Okay?"

I nodded.

"Now slowly pull the dagger out of Erica and then I'll come and take her off of you"

I did as he told me slowly taking out my blade. I heard his footsteps and were relieved when the heavy werewolf was lifted off me.

"Let go of the dagger now, you won't need it" Phillpe's voice very near me. I did as he said and let the knife drop. Clattering when it hit the ground.

"James" Phillipe called "Take your mate to the pack house. I'll meet you there."

Then he picked me up mumbling "It'll be okay. You're safe now. You're safe." Those words were the last thing I heard before everything went black.

When my eyes shut open I found myself gazing into a light blue canopy.

Light where streaming in through a big french-window and warmed my face.

"So the sleeping beauty finally decides to awake"

I turned me head in the direction of the voice. Even thought I already knew who I would set my eyes on. Phillipe.

"You should probably get dressed, the rest of the pack want's to meet you." he proclaimed with a small smirk.

I glared at him and the smirk grew into a huge smile as he walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. A small part of me wondered who had undressed me. But I didn't bother to put more thought into it, instead I let my eyes wander over the room.

It wasn't very big but in some way not small either. The walls where in the same blue colour as the canopy but they had a very old pattern that I nearly missed.

There where an old-fashioned dresser -with a little too much embellishment for my taste- in near the french-window, a mirror in the same stile and of course there where the chair he had been sitting in.

On the dresser laid some crumpled clothes, it was at least what I thought it was. I got out of the bed and, dragging my feet after myself, I made my way to crumpled heap.

I frowning a bit when I realised that the clothes weren't my own. Sure it was my size, but they weren't mine.

Looking through them I came to know that it were a casual white T-shirt, a pair of light blue jeans, a grey cardigan and some underwear.

I changed into the rather quickly before I took a fast glimpse of me in the mirror and sighed since my hair looked like a mess. I tried to comb it with my fingers, but all in vain. I sighed ones again before I turned around and went to the door.

I found my self in a long corridor with paintings of men and women hanging on the walls. I looked to my both sides at my left were a dead end, on the right I found a long staircase.

From billow I could hear voices talking and laughing. I headed slowly down the stairs, one step at a time. Unwilling to actually go down there. Countless times thinking of going back up. But when I reached the bottom the stair it was to late.

When my foot reached the floor the kitchen went silent. Everybody froze, including me.

We staid like that for what semed like a half an hour. What broke the silense were a lowed wolf whistle. All the people in the room jerked their heads to the source of the sound. A lanky boy about my age, leaned against the edge of the table with a huge grin on his face.

"Seems like the chief has got him self a hot chick. Looks like she is even hotter with normal clothes on instead of that goth-outfit of her's. Whan'na go out with me?" he said and someone slapped him in his head.

"Don't listen to Jack" one of the women said "You must be Victoria. I'm Lily, Will's mate" pointing at a tall muscular boy in the corner "You're lucky, getting Phillipe as you're mate I mean. He's a good man, you just need to give him a chance."

"I don't want to. I just want to be left alone."

"We do not always get what we want"

She didn't know how true those words were.
