Recap:

I ran out the kitchen door and out unto the lawn. I could feel the wetness on my cheeks as for the first time in years tears were streaming down my face.

"Victoria what's the matter?" Lilly's voice said before she brought me into a hug. "I'm going to kill Phillipe" she said as I cried into her shoulder. "I swear I will kill him"

Chapter 16 "Sometimes the past is more complicated than the present"

Lilly's POV

I had taken Victoria from the lawn and into the tree house, which probably would be the last place someone would look for us in.

We sat down on the damp mattress and I took her hands in mine. She looked scared and weak, she was trembling. I squished her hand as I sincerely said "What's the matter Vie? You can "tell me Vie, I won't tell him. He will not know anything at all"

"I don't want to talk about it", she sobbed looking away.

"You know sometimes it helps to talk about it" I said trying to comfort her the way Will sometimes did with me.

"I..."

More tears ran down her cheeks and I rubbed her hands. I'm so bad at this!

"Shh... Shh... It'll be fine. Talk to me, I won't judge"

She took a heavy breath and leaned against the wall. "I don't know where to start."

"The beginning always seems to be the right place to start something off.

"I guess", she whispered before she went quiet. Her eyelids closed and she took deep breaths.

"Whenever you're ready, sweetheart"

For a few moments we just sat there, not talking nor moving. Like statues. The without worrying her lips began moving as words slipped past her lips.

"I don't want to talk about how I ended up there nor much of what came after. I also want to stay clear of the subject regarding my family. All right?" she whispers and I give her a small nod in return.

Her gaze is pined on the ceiling and then she starts telling me. "You see, I have flashbacks. That's what happened today. This flashback was a bit different from the other ones, it was from a time after Nathaniel died...

Victoria's POV

... This particular flashback was from a few months ago, 7 to be exact. I had acted violently and undisciplined towards an officer back at the Crypt. Therefor had I been taken to one of the Cold cells. That place was one of the scariest places I’ve been at.  The cell was small and dark, the furniture all in silvery steal”, I sighed when I tried to recall as much as I could from the memory I had buried so deep inside my head. I continued to tell her as the memories slowly started to flow into my mind.

“It was cold…” I told her

So cold. So very very cold. I stood in the middle of the room beside the silvery steal table. I didn’t want to touch anything in this cell. All of it could be deathtraps and besides there had to be a reason for their existence in this room. If you could even call it a room that is.

I was standing there in the dim light as a too familiar voice could be heard in the Cold cell.

“Remember me, Victoria?” Scars voice shilled my bones and I looked hastily around the room. “Of course you do. I killed your brother after all! Aren’t you proud of me?” I didn’t answer any of his questions.

“You’re silent now little girl. What happened? Your screams were so loud back at the Chamber Pain. How about now? Do you think I could make you scream ones more? It would give me such pleasure,” he said with more than a hint of madness.
