I once again found myself repeating the formation in my head over and over, making sure everything I was taught would be precise during the mission.

We all sat on our horses, anxiously staring at the gate ahead of us to open. Suddenly, a hand was placed over mine.

Petra was leaned over her horse to reach me, giving me a smile of assurance. I stared back, and pushed a smile onto my face. There were a lot of feelings I had right now, and none of them were happiness.

I wasn't very nervous about the mission up until early this morning. Being surrounded by all my comrades, knowing this mission will end with a large portion missing was something that filled me with dread. Especially when the risk involves my friends dying.

Erwin's fist raised into the air.

"Forward!"

"The 57th expedition outside the wall begins now!"

We all ran together on our horses through the district. The cool breeze I felt on my face was nothing compared to the coolness filling my insides.

"A 10 meter approaching from the left front!" Hange announced loudly, catching the attention of everyone riding with caution.

"I'm really curious about what's inside it. But i'll let the support squad handle it!" she added, looking back ahead and allowing the other squad to step in.

The squad members all flew up into the air using their gear to their best capability, and swiftly worked together to eliminate the beastly giant. I looked away, keeping my eyes straight ahead of me in fear of watching something bad happen to the squad.

"Deploy long range enemy scouting formation!" Erwin's voice echoed as he ordered us. It was time to split.

The Special Operations Squad, aka the squad I'm in, aka Levi's squad, began to separate from everyone else as we all got into our rehearsed formations. Our horses circled Eren, who rode in the middle of everyone for his protection.

It was still very early into the mission, but flares were already being shot into the air from a distance, quickly spreading as each squad saw it.

A 5-meter was approaching, running towards our squad with rapid, ragged steps. The insatiable expression decorating its ugly face only formed an anger inside me as I watched it come closer. Not today.

"Captain, I'm taking this one" I pulled my swords out as I carefully stood up on my horse with as much balance as I could. He didn't respond, so I took this as permission to go for it. After all, it was just a 5 meter, the chances of getting injured or dying were very low for me with this one.

I shot my hooks into its eyes, and flung right at it. With speed faster than the titans, I ran up its nose and jumped off the back of its head. My body fell down head first and I sliced its nape in the process, managing to flip over back straight after.

I put my swords back in their spot and got back on my horse with no time to waste.

Did I have to kill it? Not really, our mission wasn't focused on that. Did I anyways? Obviously, I hate titans.

Further into the mission, we were surrounded by nothing but a flat land of grass, seeing massive trees that lead into an abnormally sized forest. The blue sky tinted with a long strip of green smoke as a flare was shot from somewhere not too far.
