"Marina!"

My eyes closed, the clicking off boots hitting the ground came closer and closer. My shoulders shook as someone placed their hands on them and tried to wake me up. A low groan left my mouth again and I opened an eye to see Moblit knelt down next to me with Hange next to him.

"fine I'll get up" I made another sound of complaint and got off the ground, tiredly walking in another direction with a small limp.

".. Where are you going!?" Moblit asked with the same worry he usually had in his voice, mostly from working with Hange.

I didn't turn around, instead I kept teetering through the streets with my head up to look for a titan.

"Marina are you just as excited about the titans as I am!?" Hange bantered, for a moment forgetting about the injured comrade walking off, "But you should give it a break, no?"

I pointed my arm up at a 5 meter in further away.

"Last one" I stated, almost as a plead. I didn't wait for approval as I shot my hooks out, gritting my teeth from my bruised ankle.

As I flew in the air heading straight for the titan, someone charged right over to me and grabbed me by the side. I widened my eyes, the person holding me flew onto a roof and dropped me on it.

I blew the hair that had gotten in my face out of the way and got a clear view of Captain Levi.

"why-"

"Dammit brat that's enough" He scolded, giving no room for response as he flew off somewhere else right after. I sighed, watching as his figure became smaller as more distance was created.

The 5 meter stared at me. I stared back.

"the hell are you looking at" I spat at it, crossing my arms angrily and barely wincing at the sharp ache in my side. The titan slowly walked toward the roof I stood on, getting a better look at me.

I huffed, and looked around. Levi was far off somewhere else, Hange and Moblet weren't anywhere to be seen either. Just one more.

I stood up straight, and walked forward attempting to hide my limp. I gripped my swords, my hands were in immense pain from holding open the previous titans mouth. Even though my fingers were shaking, my heart was nearly going to explode, and my whole body pulsed with pain, I was going to fuck this bitch up.

I leaned my hips forward and my hooks aimed right into the titans eyes, blinding it while spitting back blood. It's arms waved around in reaction to losing sight, low roaring escaping it's throat.

"that's what you-" I began, jumping up to its shoulder, "get for-" I hopped off and spun in efforts to reach its nape from behind and slice it, which I succeeded in. The titan fell down face forward onto the ground and I balanced myself to stay standing on its back.

"staring at me" I finished, putting my swords back in their place. I took a deep breath, finally accepting I was done. I walked off it's back, my back hunched over with exhaustion. I was so oblivious to the small stone near my feet that I lost footing and face planted into the ground.

I just tripped over a rock.

A rock defeated me.

This time I wasn't bothered to move. I just laid on the ground with my forehead pressed against the cold concrete.

"there's no time to eat shit, get up we're leaving" A deep voice I very well recognized suddenly spoke at a close distance to me.

"oi" he spoke again in reaction to my no-reaction, "I said get up! That's and order"

I grunted as my wobbly arms pushed my upper body up. My leg tucked in and very slow I brought my foot flat to the ground to stand up. My pace of getting up was not fast enough to the captains liking as he immediately slipped his arms under mine and yanked me to my feet.

I turned around, about to say thank you but not having the energy to produce words. And it's not like my mouth was exhausted to the point I physically didn't speak- I just chose not to.

I took a step toward Levi, and reached my hand over his head giving it an awkward, small pat. His eyes barely widened, and he didn't speak until I began to walk in the direction of where all the horses and carriage were.

"what the hell" he muttered to himself, wondering what the hell that was about.
