Chapter 20 - Alyssa.

"Alyssa! Katy's here!" My mother calls from downstairs. It's Sunday morning. Yesterday was alright, the first day home. Staying alone with Jack was the best part, because he seems to understand me in the most crazy ways. But it was lovely seeing Niall and Katy, and I want to spend as much time as possible with them in this week at home.

I put down my book, and turn off my Lana Del Rey CD. Then I jog down the stairs to the front door where Katy is standing, with her rosy cheeks and windswept, light blonde hair.

Grinning, I hug her and immediately I feel better. "Hey."

"Hello, dear!" She laughs. "I was wondering if you wanted to come shopping. I was thinking we could go into London today. Get the train."

My eyes widen, and I grin. "Well, that'd be fun. What, do you have like a load of money saved up or something?"

She laughs. "Something like that." I can't help but notice that she can't stop smiling.

"What are you looking so smug for?" I laugh, as she holds onto her bag, swaying from side to side with a dreamy expression.

To my surprise, she giggles and then whispers, "I'll tell you when you get your stuff and we're on our way."

Ten minutes later we're at the train station, shivering slightly as we wait on the platform, as cold air is coming through the tunnel onto those waiting. There are some boys who look around fifteen, smoking and goofing around a few metres away, then an old couple and three girls of about twenty.

I sigh and look at Katy. "Okay, so are you going to tell me?"

She looks like she's going to scream from excitement. She looks at me, then whispers with a slight blush, "Last night, after you left with Jack ..." She bites her lip and pauses. I think I know what's coming. "Well ... Me and Niall ..."

I look at her for a few seconds, and then both of us are giggling nervously, madly, making some other people look our way. I grab onto her arm and then whisper teasingly in a mock-innocent voice, "You and Niall what?"

"I just- I guess we got a bit out of control," she begins in a breathy voice. "And then ... We ended up in his room. And then it all just ... Happened."

Biting my lip, I watch her. "What was he like?" I joke.

"He was so sweet ... I know it wasn't his first time but- He was so nice about it all, afterwards," she tells me.

"I should hope so," I joke with her, then look down at the ground.

She laughs, and then asks me, "What about you and Will? How's it going?"

I take in a deep breath. "We aren't together anymore, Katy. I don't think we ever should have been."

I watch as her face pales, and her smile completely disappears. She grabs my hand. "Wait - what?"

"He was cheating on me. For the past two years." I roll my eyes to try and push the tears away. "We did it too, Katy. And the next morning, he just told me."

Katy looks speechless - she opens her mouth and then closes it again, several times. Then she actually sits down, taking in deep breaths.

"He what?" She spits, incredulously. "I can't even- I can't believe this."

Running a hand through my hair, I mutter, "You don't have to say anything-"

"If I ever see him, I'm going to kill that dickhead," she growls. Then she looks at me. "Why didn't you call me?"
