My alarm screams at me to wake up. I've been wide awake for at least three hours, nauseous but hungry at the same time. I hit the button on my clock shutting the alarm off and continue to stare at the ceiling.

If I moved, I was going to puke for sure. I slowly sit up and my head begins to pound. I'm certain I'm still hung-over from Saturday night when Opal came over and drank with me. My sink is still filled with empty tequila, rum and vodka bottles that I just didn't feel like messing with.

I sigh and throw the covers over and stand up, swaying a bit and then it hits me. I run to the bathroom and quickly lift the toilet seat before I throw up what I didn't have in my stomach. I groan when I finish and flush the toilet. I stand up and start the shower and start stripping out of my clothes. The shower feels amazing when I step inside. I let the hot water pound on my head and neck for a bit before washing up and getting out.

I do my usual routine with the exception of getting sick here and there, and it's not long before I'm out the door and heading to work. I walk through the doors of Mason Enterprises and see Jeremy talking with Eric. He looks up at me and I quickly turn and make my way to the elevator. He hurries over and stops me when the elevator doors open up. "Lexi, wait-" I just turn on my heel and start walking up the steps. I'm only up the first set when a wave of nausea hits me. I groan and hold my stomach but continue up the steps. "Alexis, would you stop trying to run away so I can talk to you?"

"No, Jeremy. I will not. In fact, I have a job to do but right now, I have some food poisoning I have to try and rid my body of, so if you would please be so kind and just leave me the hell alone." I snap and finally reach the next floor and hurry into the bathroom.

After removing what little I had in my stomach, I walk out and find that Jeremy is nowhere to be found. I sigh with relief and make my way to the elevator digging in my purse for my gum. The doors open and I climb on, popping spearmint into my mouth and press the button for my floor.

I climb off the elevators and am immediately met by Opal. "You do not look good. Are you still hung-over?" She asks.

I shake my head. "I think so. I've been like this all morning. Any messages?" Another bout of nausea and I rush into the bathroom and hug the toilet while Opal reads the messages. "Oh, and there was a page for you. Don't know why, just that someone is waiting for you at the receptionists desk."

I wipe my mouth and flush the toilet. I stand up and straight my dress out and walk to the sink and drink some water and spit it out before popping more gum into my mouth. "Awesome. Do me a favor, get me some peppermint tea. Last thing I need is to puke while in a meeting." Opal nods and hurries out the door.

After setting my things in my office, I make my way to the main floor via elevator and walk over to the receptionist's desk. Valerie turns and smiles that same evil smile she donned when she walked in on Jeremy and I. I sigh but approach her.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, making sure my voice is laced with anger.

Valerie smiles. "Wow, so the mistress is also an employee. That's not cliché at all. Actually, I'm here for Jeremy's expansion lawyer. Not that it concerns you any."

Just. Fucking. Great. I smile. "Alexis Parks Attorney." I extend my hand and she just stares at me then starts to laugh.

Jeremy and Eric walk over and I can see neither of them are happy with her presence. She continues to laugh and we stare at her. "Valerie." Eric says and puts his hands in his pockets. "To what do we owe this pleasure?" His voice is laced with annoyance.
