Rhett had given his confession. It took over a week to get to him but Lenny was able to get him to confess everything and we got it on record. Valerie was charged and now the only thing we had to face was the divorce trial which we would be going to today. Luckily for Jeremy, I am an amazing lawyer. Unfortunately, at the same time I was his girlfriend and that could possibly pose a problem in the courthouse and he will need a new lawyer. Thankfully, Eric was able to get a back-up just in case.
I walked out of the bathroom from my shower and walked over to Jeremy's closet where I had my suit hanging neatly. Jeremy walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist and began to kiss my neck and shoulders.
"You smell good. Like, lavender." He whispers in my ear.
"That's the brilliant thing about body wash, it makes you clean and smelling amazing." I told him and he placed his hand on my chin and turned my head so I was looking at him.
"Okay, smart ass." He smashes his lips against mine and pins me against the wall. His lips graze from mine down to my jaw and he keeps trailing down and I just close my eyes and smile.
But it doesn't last, as his phone begins to ring and he groans and stands then walks over to his dresser and grabs his phone and answers it. So I turn, grab my suit and lay it on the bed and start getting ready for the trial.
He leaned against the dresser watching me, his disappointment bright on his face from me getting dressed. I just smiled, blew him a kiss and walked back into the bathroom to finish getting ready.
An hour later and we were in the courtroom and waiting for the judge to enter. I sat down with Jeremy at the table and turned to look at Opal, Lenny and Jeremy's parents sitting behind us. "Thanks for coming. I'm almost afraid to see how this is going to go." I told them.
"What do you mean? You know what you're doing don't you?" Eric asked. I nodded. "Then what's the problem?"
I sighed and looked back at Valerie and her lawyer. "Just a hunch." I say and stare at them a moment and then the judge walks in and we all rise during the introduction.
After the introduction, Judge Prescott motioned for us to sit and called out the case between Valerie and Jeremy. "Mr. Bartlett will you please enlighten us about your clients case?"
Councilor Bartlett stood and straightened his tie out. "Yes, your Honor. My client, Mrs. Valerie Mason, is seeking her share of Mason and Mason Partners as she is entitled to by marriage to it's CEO Jeremy Mason."
I stood up. "Your Honor if I may?" Prescott nods. "Mrs. Mason is not necessarily entitled to any share of Mason Enterprises or it's partnership due her to title. She is a Mason by marriage, not by blood."
Bartlett scoffs. "There is no contract, or any legal document stating that she isn't entitled. Default title or not, she has rights to have half of what Mr. Mason owns by law. A prenuptial agreement was not signed, therefore everything, including the company is up for debate."
"She is entitled to a debate, but she is not entitled to a share. Isn't that why we are here?" I snap back. Prescott clears his throat. I stop and take my seat.
"Your Honor, I would like to address to the court, before we continue, that Councilor Parks and her client are in an intimate relationship." Bartlett announced.
