Chapter 5- Acceptance

Colton looked at his adorably annoying little brother who returned his gaze. “Colton? You’re in there too?” the little boy reached down and plucked his bigger brother out of his chair. Nellie yelped in shock as it took place in a mere few seconds.

“Owen!” Nellie looked up to see an angry Colton being brought up and out of view. “Put me down!”

“But it’s so cool when you’re tiny.” His brother whined not wanting to return his now smaller older brother to the ground.

Nellie quickly got up and left the house. She could see Owen now standing up with his tiny hand grasped around Colton’s torso. Colton kicked his legs in protest wanting to be placed on the ground again.

“Owen! You aren’t supposed to grab me like that even if I’m not a human you should always ask someone before you do that. If you don’t put me down right now I’m telling mom.”

The little boy’s eyes seemed to gleam over with wet tears and he started to shake with fear of being told on.

He brought his brother down to the ground but dropped him a good 10 feet about the actual ground. In a feared panic Nellie yelled, “Colton!”

But as soon as he was released Colton started to grow until his feet hit the ground. He didn’t really fall at all. And then he proceeded to grow to his full height, almost twice the size of his younger brother.

After he was done growing he bent over and snatched his little brother up into the air and started to swing him around and tickle him. “SEE!” Colton yelled at his giggling brother. “It’s not nice to me yanked off the ground without being asked first.”

Owen continued to giggle as his brother spun him around and brought him further away from Nellie and her house. Once they were at his door. Colton put a panting Owen down and crouched down to his knees to look his brother in the face.

“So next time you will ask first right?”

“Yes I will.”

“Okay thank you. Was there something you wanted?”

“Oh no. I was just bored and I wanted to see if Nellie wanted to play.”

“Well I guess we can ask her.” he stood up and held his brothers hand as they walked back over to Nellie.

Once they were in front of her Colton sat down on his butt, crossing his legs and his little brother came and sat down in his lap.

Nellie knew she was safe with Colton. , and was even more pleased that he had Owen in his arms in case he tried to grab me or something.

“Nellie?” Owens small voice asked.

“Yes, Owen?”

“Can we play together?”

“Um sure Owen that sounds like fun. What did you want to do?

He brought his eyebrows together in thought and started to think of a game.

But before he could Colton chimed in, “what about your building blocks? You could build a city for her.”

Owen’s eyes opened wide and he smiled in excitement. “That sounds like fun! Nellie, do you want to play with my building blocks?”

“Yes, Owen I think that sound like fun too.” At her answer he quickly reached down and was a few human feet away from grabbing Nellie when there was a loud clapping noise as Colton reached down and snatched his brother’s hand back.

“Owen what did I tell you just a second ago. You have to ask!”

Owen frowned at what he’d done and said, “I’m sorry Nellie, may I pick you up?”
