Her giant BF . . . F?

Chapter 17-Getting Ready!

The table was like a buffet. Probably holding 15 different dishes in total. Nellie’s plate was already served and held a shrunken down piece of everything, the already ginormous plate, was almost overflowing.

When Nellie took her seat at her tiny table Colton took his seat behind her. Dr.H, Delilah, and Owen were already seated and served, there plates about 15 times larger than her own and all stuffed to the rim with food.

“Hello, you two.” Dr. H spoke in his deep rumbling voice.

“Hey” Nellie and Colton both spoke at the same time. Colton was loading his plate, and the smell was heavenly.

“Okay, well I’d like to say a prayer for our family, everyone, join hands.” He reached out to grab his wife’s and Owen’s hand. Owen reached to grab Colton’s other hand, while Colton and Delilah both reached towards Nellie to pinch her tiny hands between there thumb and index fingers.

Everyone around her shut their eyes, and again, like last time, Nellie shut her own. “The beloved Retsnomian community, we pray to you to protect our children along with our newest addition, Nellie. We hope that good luck comes to the school staff and it’s students to make school a fun experience and not a dreadful one. We wish that the most kindness comes to Nellie from the community. And as usual, we thank everyone for new discoveries which are all around us; history is being made all the time. Thank you Retsnom for being an amazing planet to live on, for being close enough to Earth to make travel between both our planets and the humans possible; for making it possible for Nellie to live with us. Thank you, Retsnom.  Everyone?”

“Thank you Retsnom.” the whole table said in unison one last time before the family opened their eyes and smiled at each other.

It was Colton’s rumbling stomach that broke the stern silence. “Let’s eat!” he proclaimed as he grabbed his utensil and dove into his food hungrily.

Nellie turned and looked over her shoulder at Colton and glared. He was really starting to get on her nerves. She knew that he wanted to keep their relationship a secret but this isn’t what she wanted. She wanted a boyfriend that she wouldn’t have to keep a secret.  And earlier, when he pushed her away and hid in the bathroom, was just evidence that he wasn’t exactly ready to tell everyone about their-more-than –just-friends relationship status.

Colton had inhaled about a fourth of his plate before he showed any sign of slowing down and looked over to see Nellie staring at him, with an angry expression on her face. “What?” he mouthed, before she shook her head slightly and turned around to start eating her own food.

After everyone around the table had eaten for a few minutes, Nellie tried to spark up a conversation. “So, Dr. H, exactly what is your position at the hospital again?”

“Oh right, I haven’t told you before, I’m the Chief of Staff at the Logrono Hospital.” The handsome man smiled, looking much like an older version of Colton.

“What does that mean exactly?” Nellie asked curiously as she took a bite of the chicken fried rice on her plate.

“Oh, I oversee all of the other chiefs, physicians, and surgeons. I make sure they know what to do and what they are dealing with.”

“That sounds like a tough job.”

He finished swallowing the bite he’d just taken before answering, “It is, and although it takes away from my family time, it’s well worth it. Saving lives and helping people, makes it all worth it in-”

“He puts people arms back on!” Owen yelled out interrupting his father. “When people have accident my dad put them back together.” Owen was beaming, his eyes gleaming with admiration at his dad.
