walking a red carpet for the first time can be very intimidating, everyone experienced around you knowing what to do. except for you. this was your first time walking the red carpet and also your first time publicly walking it with your boyfriend. shawn mendes. he had done countless of red carpets and this was not his first, but since having a top single featuring him and also a number one album as well, this was your first time walking a red carpet for a music award show.

"it's gonna be fine. if they ask us anything i'll do all the talking, remember just smile and look at me if you get overwhelmed or nervous!" he says and you nod as he exits the van first and then helps you out, you walk hand in hand to the entrance and thats when it begins, the cheering and the camera flashing, you both smile at each cameras ways, shawn hand rests on the small of your back and he helps move you to the next spot and even out your dress if it gets messy. the both of you were picture perfect, but then came the stressful part for you. the interviews.

you walk up to a nice lady who is doing questions for iheart radio, you and shawn stand side by side, his hand still on the small of your back and holding you close to him. you both answered the basic questions, just how your careers were, what it was like working together, and how the success was. but then a twist comes.

"so fans wanna know. are your two an item? you guys have been seen out together a-lot for the past few months and have been getting so many positive reactions from both your fandoms and they just wanna know. are the two of you together?" you freeze, time feels like it stops and the only thing you can feel is your heart pounding, you let out a nervous breath and look to shawn. shawn looks over to you giving you a calm smile which eases you and has you calmly smile as well, all he does is take your hand and squeeze it, making sure the camera gets it in the shot so everyone can see, you both then turn back to the interviewer who has a smile in her face.

"i think that was confirming it right there guys! shawn mendes and (y/n) (y/l/n) are officially together!" you and shawn smile as you both head off to the next interviewer, where shawn did the exact same thing to confirm you're relationship, with just a gentle hand squeeze. no words needed.
