chapter 8 - confession(s)

- third pov -

"what the fuck?" mi jin cursed out while the zombies couple of blocks away
running towards them. "run! go!" everyone's shouting at eachother. y/n and mi jin are trying to pull joon sung away while the others are trying to get everyone inside the room ha ri just found.

"just fucking go! you both are going to die!" it's hard for the girls to pull joon sung. "i don't fucking care." y/n is slowly letting go of the grip on the board, knowing it's impossible to get him away from the running zombies.

su hyeok is pushing away some zombies before seeing min jae out of the building, closing the door behind him. "park mi jin, are you crazy? let go!" "shut up!" joon sung untied himself making him fall from the board "no! joon sung!" shouts mi jin.

ha ri's trying to get y/n and mi jin inside the room with her brother behind her.

two zombies got joon sung and began biting him. mi jin screams unable to do anything about it while y/n pulls her to let go of him. joon sung grabs every zombies that tried running to the others. "go! hurry!" y/n is still pulling mi jin into the room while deeply shutting her eyes from all the scenes happening right now.

mi jin wasn't letting go of it yet. "joon sung, no!" ha ri and wu jin started to help y/n. min jae is trying to get back inside but is blocked by a lot of zombies behind the door. "close the door!" ha ri yelled at her brother.

"let me go!" y/n fell to the ground with mi jin in her hands, holding her tight without letting go for a bit. she's still trying to get off from her grip while sobbing uncontrollably.

the archer catches her brother, wu jin shaking from what he just saw a moment earlier. she approached him and hold his hand to calm him down, sending a small genuine smile. mi jin started to have control of herself, slowly relaxing in y/n's hold.

everyone is silent for a moment. tired, starving. "hey, cheong san. i'm so sorry. i didn't know it was your mother." they lost everyone they care about and fighting the urge to go back home--safely.

because at the end of the day, they are just kids.

"i'm sorry." dae su apologized before cheong san fell to the ground, sorrowed by the pain of losing his mother. on jo have her hands over his shoulders, comforting and hugging him close.

- time skip -

morning came, all the kids managed to
fall asleep due to the exhaustingness except for cheong san. he's awake, zoning out with sleeping on jo on his shoulder, nam ra laying down beside su hyeok and hyo ryung, dae su hugging joon yeong, mi jin's crossing her legs and her hand holding y/n's on her thigh while wu jin lays down on ha ri's lap beside y/n.

y/n wakes up to the feeling mi jin moves their hands from y/n's thigh to hers. y/n turn her head to mi jin, staring at her asleep figure before slightly pushing her head onto her shoulder.

but that made mi jin wakes up. "oh i'm sorry." mi jin have her eyes squinted from the bright light outside before realizing she is holding y/n's hand.

y/n thought she was gonna let go of her hand but she didn't. "mi jin" "yea?" mi jin replied with a raspy voice. "i know that this might be weird but i haven't got a proper chance to tell you that-" mi jin showed her a dazed look.

"i like you."

mi jin lost for words and y/n can feel it. but it just slip out of y/n's mouth, she's quite worried she won't get the chance to say this anymore. "i'm glad you said that, really glad."

"what do you mean?" y/n questioned. "i'm well aware that i feel the same to you."

those words mean everything to y/n. she smiled widely than ever, "really?" mi jin turned her head to y/n at this "i thought you were into ha ri or something." said y/n while glancing at ha ri sleeping beside her.
