[Name] was fine.
It's been a few days since he and his parents managed to settle down into their new house that was right in the middle of a residential area.
He hasn't really left the house since he was busy fixing his room and playing with the new handheld console that his parents got him to cheer him up – It didn't work but at least he had something to do. He was fine with having his digital grass tortoise that had a tree on its back as his companion. Together they would crush the very systematic order of bosses and some dude that was trying to break the space-time continuum to create a new world or whatever. This was the true adventure that he had been yearning for!
He didn't need friends, they disappointed him.
Ok, maybe he wasn't that fine but he was coping.
He laid on his bed, pressing the buttons on his console and picking the right moves to use against the opponent while trying to level up his team.
There wasn't any reason to go outside so he just didn't which was fine with his parents since his mom called it an 'adjustment period'. In all honestly, he didn't really care about what it was called if it meant his parents wouldn't bother him for a while. At least he had time to think about the past few days.
Moving back to Tokyo was definitely not what he expected to happen. They had moved to the western part of Tokyo known as Nerima much to [Name]'s dismay. He was slightly disappointed after hearing that he was not going to be seeing an energetic silver-haired boy.
[Name] cursed at the NPCs in the game for challenging him when he just wanted to get through the damn route. Just as he was about to start a new battle though, a knock was heard followed by the sound of the door opening.
"Come down, we got guests," his dad said while peeking his head around the gap while [Name] pouted at what he said.
"Guests?"
"Neighbors."
Before [Name] could ask anymore questions, his dad had already closed the door and left him wondering who would even visit them. He glanced back at his console before deciding to save where he left off and hopped off his bed, walking towards the door before turning around to look at his room.
Simple white walls with a few posters of whatever fictional characters he was obsessed with that month, some pictures of him and his parents and others with past friends and distant relatives. A desk made itself home on one of the corners littered with magazines and notebooks while his bed was against the middle of the wall with two dressers on either side. The last corner of the room was dedicated to a small shogi setup with two throw pillows on either side of the table and a magazine rack with some notebooks dedicated to his strategies and a foldable wooden chessboard beside it. All in all, he was pretty satisfied with the design of his room.
With a soft sigh, he exited his room and walked down the hallway and stairs as he slowly heard the sound of laughter from the living room. He went down the first few steps and crouched down to see the guests that were currently interrupting his alone time from the small gap in between the ceiling and stairs.
Eyes scanned the living room as he saw his parents talking to what [Name] assumed was their neighbors, specifically two couples. He let out a soft string of curses as he saw a couple of kids standing beside each other sitting at the couch just talking to each other about whatever.
The talkative kid had spiky hair with a messy hairstyle to which name could attribute to bedhead with a fringe that almost covered his right eye. The quieter one had long black hair that reached up to his shoulders that was just playing on a game console while occasionally giving the other boy a nod and a glance to tell him that he was still listening.
