[Name] couldn't help but stare at the sunset that looked over the horizon, watching the golden hues paint the houses and streets in brilliant colors of orange, red, and yellow. The soft breeze from the coming spring was just a good enough reason to visit Miyagi and think about everything that's happened in the years before – twelve chapters if we were being specific.
He was in his last year of junior high school until he would transition into the last three years of his teenage life, making choices that would lead up to the events in his future.
"I knew you were gonna be up here."
[Name] turned to the voice to see a boy approaching him holding two popsicles and plopping down on the ground to sit beside him.
"Here," Nishinoya said while holding out one popsicle for the boy to take.
"Thanks, Yuu," [Name] said with a smile and took the cold treat, opening the wrapper halfway. He took a small bite of the corner of his rectangular popsicle and left the ice cream to melt in his mouth, ignoring the weird look Nishinoya was giving him.
"Still can't believe you bite your popsicles."
"It's efficient," [Name] said with his mouth slightly full while going back to staring at the sunset, his arm and chin leaning on one of his knees while the other leg was flat on the ground. "Still can't believe we're already in high school. Actual high school."
Nishinoya gave a hum of agreement while licking the side of his own popsicle as the two went into a state of comfortable silence.
Ever since he moved back to Fukuoka, his visits to Miyagi have gotten less common given the distance between the two prefectures. Luckily, both he and Nishinoya have managed to keep in contact with each other since their second year of junior high since they were finally able to get their own cellphones.
His junior high life wasn't really eventful despite the myriad of clubs he joined. The shogi club didn't do anything other than play against each other since they didn't really apply for competitions and student council was just simple paperwork that, more or less, just organized the events that happened in the school.
The only club that actually did something was volleyball, and his team... well, they weren't bad but they weren't good enough to compete against other teams from other prefectures.
"Oh yeah, you got the award for best libero right?" [Name] said aloud after remembering that his friend mentioned it.
"Yeah, but it would've been better if we won the athletics meet," Nishinoya said with a shrug. "Speaking of volleyball, you still gonna play in high school?"
"Good question," [Name] said with a small smile. "I think I might since I have to join a club at some point. Who knows? Maybe it's my turn to become the best libero."
"I think you can do it," Nishinoya said with a confident smile. Something that [Name] was only starting to get used to. "You've got the basics down and your game sense is really good. Have you thought of what school you're gonna go to? 'Cause if you haven't then I can suggest–"
"I'm not gonna attend Karasuno, Yuu," [Name] said with a chuckle while Nishinoya merely whined while leaning his body against [Name]'s side.
"Aw come on! We're gonna have so much fun and you can even stay at gramps' place if you go. Plus, they have the coolest uniforms with black gakurans!"
"I know Yuu." [Name] patted the other boy's head before returning his attention to the view and taking a few more bites of his popsicle which was slowly melting. "But I kinda wanna stay in Fukuoka for a while, ya know?"
