After a well-deserved rest and a good night's sleep, Ichibayashi had prepared themselves mentally for the fourth day of Interhigh with the team already on the bus, heading to the stadium.
"Itachiyama..." [Name] stared out the window watching the buildings pass by. "They're the team that's expected to win this whole thing, right?"
"Yup," Tatsuya replied from behind him. "I heard their libero is just as annoying as you."
"I find that hard to believe," [Name] snorted before resting the back of his head on the top back of his seat while pouting his lips. "But I did see them play and, honestly? I think he's a better libero than me."
"No!" Dai shouted from the other side of the bus making the people surrounding him flinch at the sheer volume of the ace. Dai kneeled on his seat while facing in [Name]'s direction to catch his attention. "Don't say that! You're the best, boss! Remember that!"
"Thanks, Dai," [Name] said flatly before whispering to his side of the bus. "But seriously, his skills? Definitely way better than mine."
"I saw," Katsuo agreed seated next to him. "He's definitely better when it comes to the technical aspect of it, plus, he's like, super tall for a libero."
"Don't remind me," [Name] groaned.
"You've got him beat when it comes to game sense though," Katsuo followed up.
"Oh, yeah. Definitely." The two gave each other a fist bump. "But I'm more worried about their ace."
"Sakusa Kiyoomi, right?"
[Name] gave an affirmative hum to answer the question.
Despite being only in his second year, the other boy was definitely a top contender for the title of best ace. He wasn't as strong as Kiryu or Ushijima but the nasty spin he had had [Name] doubting whether he could receive it consistently. Blocking wouldn't help matters either since he was pretty sure he saw more wipes than he could count.
"Do you think we're gonna win?" Katsuo asked from beside him.
"Don't ask me questions like that," [Name] said while shaking his head.
"So you don't think we're gonna win."
"I never said that."
"But you insinuated it."
"Well, now I feel like insinuating punching you in the face."
Katsuo opened his mouth before closing it and deciding that continuing the conversation was not worth it – a smart move. [Name] went back to looking outside the window as the bus eventually came to a stop nearby the stadium.
"Alright," Kazuo said aloud once the bus came to a halt and stoop up at the front while their coach sat at the front of the bus talking with her assistant. "Today's the semi-final matches."
"We know," Iwao replied, getting a few snickers from the back of the bus and an unamused look from the captain.
"Anyway, I understand that all of you are still energetic from winning yesterday's match but today's a new day, which means a new opponent." Kazuo crossed his arms before a faint smile formed across his face. "Of course, I have no doubts that all of you will perform your best. Now, let's get out there and show them what teamwork looks like, eh?"
