I pull away from Ash just as the guy comes near. He taps him on the shoulder and Ash turned to see the source.

"Sup Lee?" Ash questions, going to stand in front of me slowly. I crane my neck to see this 'Lee' guy's face as he responded.

"You talk to Laurie recently?" Lee asks, looking around us for something.

"Was just at her place the other day, why?" Ashtray responds. His hand goes behind his back and finds mine.

"No reason, some shit came up between that day and now apparently," Lee shrugged, his tone held that he knew something Ash didn't.

"Fuck is that supposed to mean?" Ash responds. I felt as he tightened his grip on my hand and I did my best to show that I was still here with him.

"Word is," Lee drawls. "You a snake," He studied his nails as if they were the most interesting thing in the world.

"Why the fuck is everybody saying that shit," Ash spits. Oh fuck, something's about to go down.

"Cmon bro," Lee laughed. "You can't honestly say you left the game that clean? You and your brother had to have done sum to leave without a scratch,"

"Ion know if your old ass forgot," Ash bites. "But you were one of the bitches who jumped us, we left wit nothin but scratches."

"I ain't here to hear shit," Lee raised his hands in mock surrender. "Laurie's guy is waitin for you out back, said he needs to talk to you," With that, Lee turned around and started walking to the back of the party.

"Wait for me here princess," Ash says as he turns towards me. "I'll be right back, okay?"

"Ash, this doesn't seem safe," I mumble, looking around us as if Lee would jump back out any second now.

"Hey," He said, grabbing my attention as he placed a loving hand on my cheek. "I been in this shit too long aight? I promise, I'll be safe."

"You can't promise that Ash," I reply, my eyes getting lost in his gaze.

"Just did," He sent me a little smile, nothing about it seemed happy. "I'll be back, go and find Lex and Fezco, they should be here somewhere," I nodded as I watched him turn away from me and follow Lee's exit.

I decided to follow his words, searching for Lexi and Fezco. They hadn't really been to many parties since Fez got out of the game, there wasn't any reason to besides socializing (which neither of the couple liked doing).

Lexi found me before I found her.

"Mia!" She exclaimed, her cheeks slightly rosy. "You look so good!" She was definitely drunk. Lexi never voluntarily giggled like a school girl in public like this.

"Thanks Lex," I smiled at her as we gravitated towards the kitchen area. "Where's Fez?"

"Oh, probably brooding in a dark corner somewhere," She laughed, tipping her cup to drink more of her beverage. "Where's Ash?"

"Lost him a while ago actually!" I say, trying to keep my laid back appearance but I couldn't help but let my smile slip off of my face slightly.

Lexi picked up on this. She was always the observant kind.

"You sure?" She asks, setting down her cup. "Rue told me you two were just dancing a couple of minutes ago," Shit, my heart was racing, not just because I was trying to cover for Ash but also because I'm scared shitless that he's in danger.

"Oh yeah, we were!" I respond quickly. "Felt like a lifetime ago, you know how parties are," I laughed uneasily.

"You wanna go somewhere quieter?" Lexi asks softly. "You look like you're gonna pass out," I couldn't find it in myself to respond as Lexi lightly led me to a room. It was untouched from the messy party goers and had a balcony that overlooked the entire party.
