European Federation Chancellor's palace

Belgium

2nd November 1639/2045

The morning calm of the Chancellor's office had been rudely broken by many voices, for something terrible had just happened.

" Sir, the Eastern garrison reports nothing but the ocean where Russia once was." a Polish Colonel barked, as his voice joined the clamour of others.

"Sir, the garrison forces in the Maghreb Union report there is nothing but the ocean where the dark zone once was!" another officer yelled, as the clamour grew louder and louder.

"Sir, none of the embassies can contact their home countries. They are panicking really badly sir!"Foreign minister Betzler yelled, his normally immaculate appearance on screen was marred by his undone hair and a slight maniac look.

As the many panicked voices came in and yelled their reports about the developing situation, the only thing Chancellor Norman Fitzgerald could do was sigh.

One minute they were in the earth that once was, staring down the Russians and being wary of the weakened but still deadly Global liberation army near their borders. Sure, it was tense, as Sulayman or Suvrov's lapdog Aleksandr could have tried something, yet they had not, and all they merely did was stare at each other, hands on their rifles in case something were to happen.

But then, a giant flash of light seared through the lands of the European Federation and suddenly, they were in a whole new world. Now, he had to deal with the fallout.

"Sir, we've got at least ten warships that aren't supposed to be here. The commonwealth fleet is also strangely here," said Lord Admiral Cunningham, Admiral of the European Navy, his more measured tone seemingly drowned out by the clamour.

"Sir, there is a pressing concern, we don't have enough food for the people! Our stockpiles mysteriously disappeared, and the surplus left behind is only enough for two weeks, not enough at all to make it to the harvest season!" yelled the minister for agriculture, her voice a shrill shriek and now a worry. How did the grains in the granary disappear? A GLA joke or the Chinese pinching it en masse?

"The Solaris reactors report a jump in the energy output. The sun is bigger here or something. But on the fossil fuels side, we only have enough to keep our vehicles running for at most two weeks."

" Sir, the A-400 that we sent has come back, it has had some promising results!" said air marshall Beauchamp, as he came running in.

"What sort of results, air Marshall?" Replied Chancellor Norman, as the air marshall passed him a pack of photos. It consisted of small figures amongst fields of wheat, a bustling port town, and a pack of wyverns rushing up at them.

"Sir, we picked up proof of life! A new civilization has been found, we can make contact with them !" said the air marshal, eager to explain what his RA-400 had found.

However, the photo of the grain fields where the more pressing thing. It was their only way out for now, and the sight of rice fields in the hills suggested that there was a way for them to ensure they could still access foods that were not produced in Europe.

"Well, if that's the case, I would concur with making contact with them, convene the council, and someone get me Ambassador Luke, I want him on standby." said the President, as the ministers nodded, as they left for the European council hall, which was in Paris.

Slowly but surely, measures were hammered out to help cushion the crisis as quickly and comprehensively as possible, if not, the dream that was Europa would fall, and there would be no peace for them.
