Ejei

9th January 1640

1530 hours

An Elf with a pointy chin looked over the ramparts of the castle. Ejei had long been a defensive bastion, with enough supplies to feed forces of up to fifty thousand for a year and interlocking kill zones that would allow for archers to hit at anyone below them. The already substantial garrison was recently backed by at least half of the Qua-Toynian army, half of the dragon prince's forces, and most of the wyvern corps of the Qua-Toynian army. With those numbers, the defenders of Ejei would be a force to be reckoned with, and the game changer would be the three dragons that the dragon princes brought with them, plus the aerie of great eagles who roosted nearby. Of course, he had full confidence that they would be able to hold out against the Lourians, and, if he were honest with himself, he had been slightly disappointed when the treaty with the Europeans meant that they would come to their support in the event of a war. What good was a country that had to rely on others to defend itself?

"General Nou, the Europeans are here." Said an elven spearman.

"Very well, I shall meet them downstairs." said general Nou, as he walked down the stairs, though, he wondered about the Europeans. They had reportedly routed the lourian navy even though they were outnumbered, well, they would most likely have similar technology. Well, time to meet the mysterious Europeans.

As he entered the square, he saw the European's metal eagles and whales descend and disgorge men from the inside, with some disgorging some kind of metallic cart with a large shovel at the front. Those constructs got to work and began erecting walls and defences.

He then saw two men who seemed to be similarly dressed to the men who were running around and helping to offload items off the metal eagles. But both were wearing a hat of sorts instead of the helmets that all the other troops were wearing. They were also not carrying the sleek black musket but instead some kind of pistol by their sides.

He scrutinized the both of them, before he walked closer, shoving the distaste for the blue patterned uniform that both wore. It seemed so ... plain. What shocked him was the man with dark skin, after all, there were not many sights of someone like that.

"Greetings, I take it you are the European representatives." said the general, as both of the European representatives straightened their backs and saluted.

"Yes, sir, I am General Charles Cutting of the 3rd European army, Royal horse Artillery regiment." said the man of fairer skin with a red beret.

"I am Colonel Agembe, 11e Régiment d'Artillerie de Marine, and second in command of the 3rd army." said the other man who had a blue beret instead of a red beret. He also had a wire sticking from his backpack to his ear.

"So, General Charles Cutting, Colonel Agmebe, I presume we will be seeing the European army in action?" asked the general, as around them, the droning noses grew louder, as another one of the metal eagles landed, and moments later, horseless carts came out bearing supplies.

"Well, We are just one of eight that are part of the European Armed forces, but regardless, We will be in action soon." remarked the general with the red beret, as general Nou nodded.

"Well, I'm sure you will do your jobs. However, between us generals,  Ejei is impenetrable, in fact, you could stay in your camp while we wear the enemy down through attrition," said General Nou, as

"Hmm, but not without high casualties, and it could go any way, especially with the presence of the Wyverns for air support. As a matter of fact, their wyverns in all accounts are simply superior in quantity and quality, are they not?" said the general with the blue beret.
