B/n came back to our table with the food everyone ordered.
Tetsu chuckled. "You seriously have a sweet tooth, Y/n."
"Damn right!"
"It improves her mood so she sounds as sweet as what she eats." Kenma commented.
The guys chuckled. Tendou looked over. "Is that true?"
Tetsu decided to joke. "Well, they say you are what you eat. And she's sweet as can be. Take that however you will."
Semi looked at me with a small smile. "Language. This is a family restaurant, Y/n. There are children here."
My eyes widened briefly before I burst out laughing. "Using my words against me, huh?"
He chuckled. "Yep."
B/n came back over. "Oh, shit. Semi, I totally forgot you're here."
The boy looked over at my brother. "Oh? Everything alright?"
B/n nodded. "Since you're here, why don't you and Y/n get more acquainted with each other."
"Huh? Why?" I looked between my brother and the boy sitting across from me.
B/n answered. "He's the new guy I hired. You two can start practicing duets or however you two wanna split your performances."
I looked at Semi, shocked. "What?!"
Shirabu was on the same page as me. "You got a job, here?! And didn't tell us?!"
'N-no way... am I really gonna work with one of Tomu's teammates? We barely even spoke before! And now I might have to sing with him?! How?!'
Semi shrugged. "It's not a big deal."
"It is!" I blurted out. "I've never sung with someone else before!"
His eyes widened, a light pink dusting his cheeks. "Oh... w-well we don't have to perform any duets.... If you'd prefer, we can just perform separately...."
I took a sip of my coffee, trying to think this through. "Hmm. I dunno. I haven't heard ya sing before, so that's the biggest thing. We can worry about that later, though. I'm technically supposed to be spending the day with Tetsu and Kenken. But if you wanna get up and sing, be my guest."
He chuckled. "I'm good. If can wait till tomorrow."
I leaned back. "Ok. But you're definitely singing for me tomorrow. I'll hunt you down to hear it."
Tetsu leaned on me. "You're gonna scare your coworker, songbird. Remember to play nice."
I looked at him. "Shouldn't I be saying that to you? Don't you have practice matches this week."
"Yeah, Kuroo. You need to play nice." Kenken teased him.
"Shuddup Kenma."
The two boys bickered over my head while I continued eating my sweets.
Shirabu decided to use this as an opportunity to strike up a conversation with me. "So... Y/n? How often do you work?"
I looked at him, a smile spreading on my face. "I come here everyday. I spend pretty much the whole weekend, while I wait till school's over during the week. I always stay to close."
He nodded. "I'm guessing this means you don't have any interest in becoming a manager for our team?"
This caught the attention of the two boys sitting on either side of me. "She won't be your manager!" They spoke in unison.
"Finally done with your routine bickering?" I finally refocused on them.
Tetsu frowned. "Y/n may not be in Tokyo anymore, and she may not go to our school either...."
"But she's still our manager." Kenken finished.
I rolled my eyes. "I didn't have any interest in joining any clubs since I decided to work. I actually get paid, so it's more than worth it."
"And you, my little sis, have a better chance of being seen and heard from someone from a record label."
I jumped and whipped around to face my brother. "I'm not allowed to sneak up on you, but it's ok for you to give me a heart attack?!"
"Yeah, cuz I'm your big bro." He rolled his eyes. "But seriously, if you get discovered singing here, you'll be set for life."
I groaned, leaning back against the booth. "That sounds like a lotta work."
"Why are selectively lazy?"
I shrugged, grinning. "Cuz why not? I mean, yeah I wanna sing. But I don't wanna be forced to do it either. I like doing things on my terms."
"Songbird is free. No cage can hold her."
"Shut it, Kuroo!" Kenken, B/n, and I said in unison.
B/n turned back to me. "You and Semi need to get up."
"Whyyyyyy?"
"A few customers are requesting a performance. If you two wanna get paid, then go sing. Or no more sweets for you, Y/n."
I dramatically gripped my shirt above my chest. "How dare you threaten me, your little sis and the person that's been causing an increase in your business. I feel betrayed."
I stood up anyways. "But I'm also planning to rob ya blind, so performing is the least I can do."
He stared, wide eyed. "Wait. Rob me blind?"
I ran off to my changing room, laughing.
"Y/N THAT BETTER HAVE BEEN A JOKE!"
Semi:
We watched as B/n chased after Y/n.
"Are they always like that?" I turned to her two older friends.
They shrugged. Kenma nodded slightly. "They usually joked with each other while B/n visited Tokyo. This seems normal, I guess."
I stood up. "Looks like I'm working today after all."
Kuroo nodded, not taking those sorta intimidating eyes off of me. "Go sing with our songbird. But uh... if you hurt her in any way, I might beat you to a pulp."
Kenma rolled his eyes. "Don't threaten her coworker." He turned to me. "Good luck. Y/n's a hard person to match."
I nodded, walking away. Their comments made me nervous. I mean, yeah I was already nervous to be around Y/n, let alone actually work in the same place as her, with her. But now, I have the pressure of making sure I sound good enough to sing alongside her. If I sound bad at all, it'll only drag her down.
If I wanna be someone worthy of L/n Y/n, I need to be perfect with music.
