I finished getting ready, finding Semi standing in the hall. He seemed pretty nervous. I can't have him be like that. Nervousness can only ruin a performance.
I decided to go up and help him, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. "Are you ok, Semi?"
He jumped slightly. "Oh... uh, yeah! Of course!"
I frowned. "You don't have to lie to me, ya know. Come here and let's talk." I pulled him into my changing room and both of us sat down on the couch in the room.
He sighed. "I'm so fucking nervous."
"I could see that. Why?"
"This would be the first time I'm performing in front of a lot of people. I don't wanna sound bad."
"I think you'll be fine." I smiled, trying to reassure the boy.
Semi didn't make eye contact with me, still pretty tense. "It's not just me. We'll be performing together. I don't wanna mess you up."
My eyes widened. I think my heart skipped a beat. "W-what?"
"If I mess up, it also drags you down. And you're perfect, especially when it comes to music. I don't want to ruin your performance just because I'm not good enough."
I put my hand on his. "I may not have heard you sing or play yet, but I feel like you'll be just as good as me. Maybe even better."
He looked at me, finally making eye contact. "You really... mean that?"
I smiled sweetly. "Of course! I may not have any experience with duets, but I think we'll do great together! You've already reviewed the songs that were picked for our performance, right?"
Semi nodded. "Yeah. You wrote them, right?"
I nodded. "Yup! Now, let's go perform, Semi!"
He smiled, getting off the couch with me. "Yeah. Let's sing together."
We grabbed our guitars and walked began walking to the stage.
Meanwhile... Shirabu Pov:
"Semi's gonna fail."
"Shirabu! Don't say that!" That bowl cut brat said to me.
I rolled my eyes. "He's gonna be too damn nervous to perform with Y/n that he's totally gonna fall apart and completely fail."
Tendou nudged me. "Don't be so rude, Kenjiro-kun. Semisemi will do just fine.... Maybe."
Ushijima shrugged. "Shirabu might be right about Semi being nervous, causing him to perform worse."
The rooster head guy smirked. "Yeah, no one's as good as our songbird."
Pudding head finally made eye contact with everyone. "I think Y/n's gonna notice before they perform and will help him calm down. Both of them will sing at 100% and it'll be a good performance."
Rooster head's eyes widened at his friend. "Wow Kenma. You've never been that confident in anything."
"Y/n's personality allows her to cheer anyone up, regardless of what happened to get that person down. And if he's not performing well, it'll affect her. Music is her life. She's bound to make sure everything's fine for both of them."
I shrugged, leaning back against the booth. "We'll see."
Back to your pov:
I took a deep breath, turning to Semi. "Ready?"
He smiled at me. "As ready as I can be, considering the situation."
I giggled, holding his hand and giving it a light squeeze before letting go. "You'll do great. I might have to work harder to keep up with you." I gave a playful wink and started walking to the stage.
He followed behind. We got up and sat beside each other, leaving enough space cuz of the guitars.
We began strumming a bit while the lights adjusted for our performance. Softer, lightly colored lights shone on Semi and myself. I smiled, ready to give this duet a try.
My lyrics came first.
"A flower field, made just for us, showing the brightest colors for our eyes. The scents fill my nose. There's nothing more that I could want, except maybe your hand in mine. Let the sun shine on us, showing off our hearts full of love. This is where we belong..."
Right, this maybe be a little too much of a love song.
Semi's part came next, causing me to look at him with wide eyes as he sung.
"I'll take your hand and guide you through, see what the world's made for you. We'll see it all, run through the field and leave our worries behind. It's just us, and this field. The flowers surround us and we'll feel... what was meant to be."
No one's pov
As Semi sang, Y/n's eyes were glued to him. She couldn't believe how amazing his voice sounded. Within the moments this song was sung, Y/n forgot all about Lev, and the fact that she was onstage with Semi to perform in front of the customers, her friends, her roommate, Semi's teammate, and her brother.
She did enter when her parts came, along with when she and Semi sang at the same time. But she didn't take her eyes off of him. Semi was completely unaware of the girl beside him staring while he sang. He kept his eyes on the crowd, remembering how Y/n sung to the crowd with confidence when he watched her perform. A smile made its way to Semi's face as he kept singing, his thoughts filled with Y/n, thinking how perfect this song is for his feelings towards the beautifully voiced girl.
Y/n, however, wasn't even think about the song... or anything at all. Yes, the whole performing thing had come natural to her, and her body memorized the music. She didn't even need to think about it and she was perfect with it. But right now, she's somewhat distracted. Not enough to ruin the performance or mess her up, oh no. This is the type of distraction that's giving her inspiration for new music, songs that she already wants to write.
Never before had Y/n met someone with a perfect voice, like Semi's. And now that she's heard it, she's addicted to it. All she wants is to keep hearing Semi sing.
But if you asked her why she felt this way, she probably couldn't answer. Or at least, she'd say she doesn't know. His voice just resonated with her. It made her feelings go into overdrive.
Your pov:
Semi sounds amazing. I think I'm sounding better with him around.
Is this... is this what love really is?
