(Warning...feels and sadness...)

Jay should have been enjoying himself. A table set for two...romantic music...candlelight...delicious food...and he'd done it all himself. The perfect date with Nya.

But Nya seemed kind of distant. She wasn't laughing at Jay's jokes like she usually did, and she wasn't eager to tell him about her newest modifications to her samurai mech like she usually was.

Finally, Jay gave up and decided to be direct. "Hey, Nya, is something wrong?"

Nya looked down at her lap and twisted her napkin in her hands. "I need to tell you something, Jay. I...haven't been completely honest with you."

"It can't be that bad," Jay said cheerfully. He was sure that Nya just needed to be cheered up. She'd feel a lot better once she told him what was wrong. "Let's have it."

"Jay..." Nya took a deep breath and straightened her shoulders. "Cole and I have been dating."

Jay sat up straight. "What?"

"I'm really sorry, Jay. It kind of started on accident, but then Cole and I realized that we liked each other as more than friends. And then...well, Cole and I talked about it and agreed that I can't date both of you at once, so..." Nya trailed off helplessly.

"You-you're breaking up with me?" Jay asked incredulously. This couldn't be happening.

Nya hesitated for a second, and then her shoulders slumped. "Yes."

Jay sat still for a minute, trying to process what had just happened. He felt numb. His girlfriend had been cheating on him. His girlfriend was breaking up with him. His girlfriend wasn't his girlfriend anymore.

He stood abruptly, knocking his chair over backwards, and walked toward the door.

"Jay? Are you okay?" Nya asked.

"Yeah," Jay replied sarcastically. "I'm great." Then he left the room, slamming the door behind him.

Cole, Kai, Lloyd, and Zane all looked up from their video games as Jay stormed into the living room.

Zane hit the pause button and stood up. "Jay? What is going on? I thought you had a date with Nya."

Jay ignored Zane, his eyes settling on Cole. "You backstabbing, girlfriend-stealing, black-hearted, lousy excuse for a ninja! This is all your fault!" Without waiting for a reply, he sprinted up the stairs and into his room. He barely made it to his bed before the tears that were gathering in his eyes began to spill down his cheeks.

Back in the living room, the other ninja were puzzling over Jay's behavior.

"What just happened?" Kai asked. "What was all that about backstabbing and girlfriend stealing?"

"Um...yeah," Cole said nervously. "Nya and I have been...more than friends for a while now."

Kai stared incredulously. Sure, he had pretended to be annoyed when Jay and Nya started dating, but he'd never imagined the possibility that they might break up. He'd even daydreamed about being an uncle someday.

Zane raised an eyebrow. "I take it Nya just broke the news to Jay?"

"Apparently," Cole said. "Poor guy. I was hoping he wouldn't take it so hard..."

Lloyd made a face. "This is why I leave the dating and girlfriends to you guys. Now, are we gonna finish this game or not?"

"We have to do something," Nya said. "Jay hasn't been out of his room all week."

Cole nodded. "Definitely. But what do we do? We can't just go out and get him a new girlfriend."

Nya's face brightened. "Maybe we can! Follow me!"

"Hey!" Cole protested as Nya dragged him down the hall. "What are we doing now?"

Kai looked up from the monastery's computer as Nya and Cole came into the room. "What?" he asked. "I'm kind of in the middle of something here."

"Not now, Kai." Nya pushed Kai out of his chair and sat down. Kai glared at Cole. Cole shrugged helplessly. He still had no idea what Nya was planning.

"Would you mind telling us what's going on?" Cole asked.

Nya was typing furiously. "When you said we couldn't get Jay a new girlfriend, I remembered how a friend of mine told me that her friend met his girlfriend on this dating website, PerfectMatch.com. I figure if that guy can get a girlfriend online, so can Jay. It's worth a shot."

Cole looked at Kai and shrugged. "It's worth a shot."

Kai shrugged back. "Anything to stop his moping. I keep expecting it to start raining in here."

Jay groaned and rolled over as someone knocked on his bedroom door. "Go away!" he yelled. He never wanted to see anyone ever again, especially Cole or Nya.

Zane opened the door and poked his head into the room. "Kai wants to show you something."

"Tell him to stuff it," Jay mumbled.

"He told me not to go away until you come downstairs and see what it is."

"You're gonna be there for a while, then," Jay said. But his curiosity was piqued. After a few minutes, he stood up and ran his fingers through his ginger hair to smooth it down.

"All right," he said. "Let's have it."

Kai stared at Jay when he walked into the room behind Zane. "Are you okay, dude?"

Jay had to admit that he would have asked the same question if he'd seen one of the others in the state he was in. There were dark circles under his eyes from lack of sleep, his hair was messy and sticking up in several places despite his recent effort to finger-comb it, and he was still in the same wrinkled gi he'd been wearing all week.

"Whatever," Jay shot back. "What did you want to show me?"

"Well, Nya and Cole signed you up for a dating website, and you've got a match," Kai said. "I figured you'd at least want to take a look."

Jay shrugged mentally. Why not? He was already down here. He sat down in front of the computer and studied the screen. Y/u. Looked promising. He sent out a chat request before he could stop himself.

Behind him, he was dimly aware of Kai dragging Zane out of the room, but he was mostly focused on sending a message to y/u. For the first time in a week, he felt a ray of sunshine breaking through the storm clouds that had filled his mind.
