Seven Minutes in Heaven-Lloyd

(I had time and motivation, so I whipped out a request that's been sitting around for a while and wrote it up. Requested by both Luna-Tech & Shy_school_girl. Lloyd is older, obviously!)

"All right, you two, into the closet!" Cole announces, way to cheerfully for your liking.

"Come on, time's a-wasting!" Jay says, propelling Lloyd through the door, which Zane is holding open for him. Kai nudges you in after Lloyd. You turn around just in time to see the grin on his face before Zane closes the door.

It's not like you weren't expecting this. The other ninja have been trying to set you and Lloyd up with each other for months, and they aren't exactly subtle about it. Today, they took advantage of the fact that Sensei Wu and Nya were out of the monastery to start up a game of Seven Minutes in Heaven. Not surprisingly, you ended up being paired with Lloyd to spend seven minutes in the hall closet.

"Do you think this will work?" Jay's voice comes through the door.

"It won't work if they hear us," Kai growls.

Someone sighs. "Can't you keep your mouth shut for five minutes, Jay?" That's Cole. Another person, probably Zane, shushes him.

You glance over at Lloyd, who you can just make out in the light coming through the crack under the door. He seems to be deciding whether he's amused or exasperated. True, the other ninja's attempts to set you up together are annoying, but they're also incredibly funny for one simple reason: you and Lloyd are already dating.

Yes, you and Lloyd are dating. The other ninja just don't know about it. And they won't find out any time soon if the two of you have your way. It hasn't really gone very far yet anyway—just some handholding in cafés and a few quick kisses when nobody's looking. You agreed that it wasn't going to go any further than that until you were both ready.

"Do you think they're kissing yet?" Jay asks.

There's a dull thud and the other ninja chorus, "Shh!"

You lean over to Lloyd and whisper, "What do you think they think we're doing?"

Lloyd snickers quietly. "Kissing, probably. Maybe even making out."

You suppress a snicker of your own at the thought.

"Something just occurred to me," Zane says. "What if we are destroying Lloyd's innocence by doing this?"

"I didn't think of that," Kai says. You can almost see his eyes widening. "Oh, great. As if we haven't given the Green Bean enough problems to worry about."

You share a look with the Green Bean in question, clamping your hands over your mouth to suppress a burst of laughter. Lloyd's eyes are squeezed shut as he tries not to snort.

"Uh oh, what have we done?" Jay demands in his high-pitched, freaked-out-rant voice. "If we ruin Lloyd's innocence, Sensei will kill us! "

You hear Cole trying to get Jay to calm down while Zane mutters calculations and predictions to himself and Kai apparently paces back and forth in front of the door.

"I think this is messing with them more than they wanted to mess with us," you giggle quietly.

"Shh," Lloyd whispers. "I want to see their faces when they open the door and realize we're not doing anything. Trust me, I've pranked these guys before. It'll be hilarious."

You hear a startled squawk from outside, and the two of you flatten your ears against the door to catch what Jay's about to say.

"What?" Cole demands. "What is it?"

"What if they're actually kissing!? Jay yelps. You and Lloyd look at each other and simultaneously suppress snorts of laughter. You lean forward to rest your hands on your knees and accidentally fall over with a loud thump.

Jay yelps again. "What was that?"

"It sounds like someone fell over," Zane points out.

"Well, there goes Lloyd's innocence," Cole comments.

"Oh, man, Cole, why did you have to say that?" Jay complains. "Do you know what kind of picture you've put in my head? Do you?!"

Lloyd doubles over and slaps his knee as quietly as possible. "They think we're making out," he wheezes under his breath.

You try to get to your feet, but nearly fall over again because you're shaking with suppressed laughter. Finally, you manage to get to your feet by using the wall as a support. Outside, the sounds of the ninja arguing over whose idea this was in the first place get louder. Lloyd is leaning against the wall to stay upright, while you've fallen over again and are too busy concentrating on not laughing out loud and ruining the whole thing to stand back up. Your cheeks are wet with tears of laughter, but you can't bring yourself to care.

Eventually, Zane clears his throat. "Seven minutes is up."

You try to get to your feet so you can be ready for the big surprise, but you're shaking too hard from suppressed laughter and end up sliding down the wall.

The ninja are still having an argument outside.

"Open it!"

"No way! You open it!"

"Have Zane open it! He's the calm one!"

"I refuse to participate in this discussion."

Lloyd glances at you, cheeks glinting from the tears streaming down his face. "We...are...so...gonna...get...murdered..."

"All right, we'll settle this like men," Jay announces. "With a round of rock, paper, clamp."

Several seconds of silence follow, and then...

"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

Jay's scream nearly deafens you. You accidentally let a high-pitched squeak slip out, which only makes things even funnier. There's a loud commotion outside, probably while the other ninja try to keep Jay from running away. Eventually, the sounds of the struggle move back toward the closet.

"Just do it and get it over with!" Cole whispers furiously.

"I don't wanna do this, I don't wanna do this, I don't wanna do this!" Jay whines.

At long last, the door opens. Jay stares at you and Lloyd, on opposite sides of the closet and very clearly not making out, for a moment. Then he slides to the floor and puts his head in his hands. "Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?"

You stare at him for a moment before turning to Lloyd. "I think we broke him."

Lloyd explodes into hysterics, and then you can't hold in your laughter anymore.

You laugh so hard that you cry even more than you already have. Lloyd has fallen over and is pounding the floor weakly with his fist. The world tilts, and you lurch over sideways as well, holding your aching sides and gasping for breath between bursts of laughter.

"Oh...my...gosh..." Lloyd is wheezing for breath.

You tilt your head back and rest it on the floor. "Can't...believe...you fell...for...it..."

Lloyd chokes on more laughter and points to Jay. "Literally."

That sets the two of you off again. Kai, Zane, and Cole stare at the two of you incredulously.

"You could hear us the whole time?!" Kai demands.

"Yes," you gasp. "Oh my gosh..."

Cole throws his hands up. "That's it, I'm done." He turns and stalks down the hallway. Zane stares at you for a moment, then follows him. Jay is still curled up on the floor, moaning to himself. You and Lloyd have finally stopped laughing and are on the floor, gasping for breath.

Kai leans against the wall and puts a hand over his eyes. "We are never playing Seven Minutes in Heaven again."
