Jessica tossed and turned in bed, checking her phone everyone minute looking at the time.
It was exactly Two Forty Five and she knew Mason was most likely asleep.
She wasn't sure if to call or text him because the chances of him answering were slim to none. However she bit the bullet, slowly removing the covers and tip toeing out of the room, trying to avoid awaking Damien.

She stood by the door watching him twitch and snore before quietly closing the door behind her.

Once downstairs, she poured a glass of wine before making herself comfortable on the couch.

With both knees crouched underneath her, tapping the screen of her phone trying to build the courage, she chugged two glasses of wine.

Her mind was filled with doubt but her heart was saying something else.
The liquid courage slowly but surely kicked in after about fifteen minutes and she felt ready. She didn't even go into her contacts because she never forgot his number. She went directly to her dial screen and ringed his line.
It rang four times before going to voice mail. She sighed heavily, feeling defeated. Shotting back the last bit of wine in her glass, got up and went up the stairs.

As she made it to the top, her phone immediately vibrated. Her heart was beating one hundred miles a second. It was him, he was calling back at this hour.

"Was he up ? Did I wake up him from his sleep?" She thought to herself.

Her thumb shook as she pressed the Green button to accept the call.

"Hello.." she whispered, tip toeing back downstairs.

"Its about time" He groaned sounding tired but she could tell he was happy.

"Why aren't you asleep?"

"Why aren't you Ms Jones?"

"I couldn't sleep...." She plopped back down on the couch and played with her toes like a little girl.

"Whats the matter?" He asked.

"Life... its messy"

"Life is messy or is Your life messy?"

"My life is messy. I have my dream job, my families together, I have a decent guy, but I dont know. I'm just not..."

"Happy?" He said finishing her sentence and she shook her head as if he could see her.

"Yeah, that" she agreed and slouched down in the chair making herself comfortable.

"Whats up with you and Malik?"

"He likes me..."

"I could tell"

"He's my boss"

"And he's a good guy"

"Are you giving him Brownie Points right now?" She said making them giggle.

"No not like that. I just mean that he's a good friend of mine. Ive seen the women he's dated, he's divorced just like I am. He hasn't had the best of luck with women. They see men like us and they see dollar signs, the love dont be genuine. That's why when we do find it, we try to hold onto it for as long as we could"

She swapped the phone to her other ear and laid on her side with her free hand between her warm thighs. She could fall asleep listening to his voice.

"Have you?" She asked.

"Have I what?"

"Ever found that genuine love?"

"I haven't, but its alright. Im content with how my life is going"
