⭐Chapter 10⭐
"Okay, I've got chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Does she even like strawberry cupcakes? Oh well, I already made them. Anyway, the filling is done, and the icing looks fine... Should I put on more sprinkles?"
Moira was carefully inspecting the cupcakes that she had baked just that morning. After all, these were going to be the ones she gave to Jaehee, so they had to be amazing. Even if they looked a little plain. But then again, Jaehee would probably appreciate that.
After checking the cupcakes one last time, she finally consented to put them in the box and got ready to leave. Her hands trembled as she packed everything up. She didn't know why she felt so nervous. People tried her baking all the time!
"Ooh, but what if Jaehee doesn't like them?! I tried not to make them overly sweet..."
Before she could continue worrying, Moira stopped and shook her head back and forth as hard as she could. Then she slapped her hands on her cheeks. "Hah! I won't be nervous 'cause Jaehee's gonna love these! Now, let's go!"
Not long after that she was in a taxi headed towards the C&R building. The driver had raised his eyebrows as he glanced at her big box of cupcakes. "Getting ready for a party?" he asked conversationally.
"Oh, no, I just whipped these up for someone!"
"Must be some special someone."
Moira couldn't help the smile that crossed her face. "Yeah, pretty much."
They arrived at her destination, and after paying and thanking the driver, she got out of the taxi and started walking towards the building.
Before she went too far, the driver rolled down the window and called, "I hope your boyfriend likes the sweets!"
"Boyfriend?"
But he had already driven off. Moira just shrugged and kept going.
Other than that, the walk to Jaehee's office was pretty uneventful. The security guards already knew who she was, so they let her pass without comment. It seemed that Jumin hadn't banned her from dropping in just yet!
Moira gave a cheery knock on the door, then opened it as she called out, "Jaehee! I've brought cupcakes as promised!"
Jaehee looked up as she entered, but she wasn't as pleased as Moira expected her to be. No, she looked... more tired than usual?
"What's wrong?" she asked, setting down the box of cupcakes carefully so that she wouldn't knock anything over this time.
"Hm? I'm fine, just a bit tired." She opened the box of cupcakes and marveled at the assortment. "When you said that you were going to bake me something, I wasn't expecting all of this."
"Hehe, well I wanted to make sure that you had something you liked."
"Thank you."
"But don't change the subject!" Moira waved her finger in a scolding manner. "You looked kinda disappointed when I came in. What happened?"
"It's nothing, really. I was just looking over a project for building a cat playground."
"Wow, you have to work on more than one project at a time? No wonder you're always so busy!"
"I do often have to manage several projects at once, but right now this is the only project I am working on."
"Huh?" Moira tilted her head in confusion. "What about the other one?"
"Other one?" Jaehee's brows drew together in confusion.
"Yeah, the cafe one! You know, the one you talked about yesterday! How the cafes were gonna be set up in different cities and what they could serve and all that!"
