Wu Xi was really relived when he heard that the insect won't harm Zhang. And was once again reminded that he had never really noticed any insect trying to harm him.
Qilin-blood really was something special, all the more important – Wu Xi's view shifted away from the ant just for a moment to look at the pure white bandage that was still wrapped around Zhangs other hand. He wouldn't allow it to anyone ever again – to use him only for his blood.
After shaking his thought out of his head to concentrate on the insect in front of him again Wu Xi shifted a bit closer to have a better look at it.
The ant was certainly lively, still twisting around trying to find a way out of its current position. He noticed, that even though Zhang had told him that the ant wasn't any danger to him – the was he held it kept the stinger away from his skin. As if he was consciously trying to avoid any contact.
Surprised about this Wu Xi turned staring at Zhang. Had he ever noticed him trying to avoid an insect like this?
He noticed that Zhang turned his face away even only a bit, so he couldn't look him in the eyes.
"I've heart it is an extremely painful sting.", he mumbled and slightly turned his hand so Wu Xi, who didn't pay any attention to the ant at the moment could see its front better.
"You've heard about it?" Wu Xi ask, interested. Hopeful that he probably knew more about this animal. After all underneath the surface they had a clear advantage, and a good preparation was worth more than gold, in this business.
Zhang nodded – still not looking at Wu Xi, who was scooting a bit closer – drawn by the possible new information, waiting for Zhang to tell him what he wanted to know so badly at the moment.
"I've never –"
Wu Xi waited for Zhang to tell him what he wanted to say, even if he would have loved to blurr out every single question he could think of at the moment.
"I can't remember ever seeing them used as guardians –"
He meant that he has no knowledge of them being in a tomb or temple as a sort of natural defence mechanism against intruders, like their current group. But that didn't really mean anything. Wu Xi had already seen Zhang surprised by several tomb-inhabitants, even in places where they had later found out that he had been there at least once before.
"Tocandera, a herbivorous type of ant. They nest in humid forests close to trees. They are supposed to be peaceful, and normally only defend their own nest. There is some toxin in their sting that is very painful but normally not lethal."
Wu Xi sucked every information up, that Zhang had given him. Turning to the ant once again.
Thinking – while watching the ant move it's antlers, probably trying to find out where it was.
Wu Xi didn't even notice how close he was sitting to Zhang at the moment. He didn't notice that he would only need to shift a tiny bit and then he would be leaning onto him.
He also didn't notice that Fatty who normally would, demand to take a proper look at the insect as well or throw in some questions didn't come closer and didn't say a thing. As if he was trying his best not to disrupt in any way.
Wu Xi was only sitting there staring at the insect and pondering about what Zhang had told him.
