Wu Xie slowly forced his eyelids to drop close. Who knew what thoughts he would turn in to words or actions in this mist – these circumstances, if he kept staring? He just couldn't trust himself with keeping his own damn mouth shut at the moment.
And his mind. It was impossible that it wouldn't come up with any kind of sweet fantasy – that could absolutely and indisputably destroy his fickle relationship with Qiling.
Wu Xie though that not looking – not seeing this beautiful man so close to him might help him clear his head. But it didn't.
Even with his eyes closed he could feel Qiling close – as if he was radiating warmth and safety and all those exiting possibilities.
Could feel the warmth of Qilings fingers on his chin. Thinking that the Lead character, of the novels he secretly indulged in whenever he had the time to spare, must feel like this – the moment before their partner pulls them even closer to give them a proper kiss.
'I want this', his brain was practically screaming at him. Wanting Qiling to pull him closer, to give him a proper kiss, to tell the world that he was his and they belonged to each other. To never disappear again – and always be together.
How could he not want this?
And yet he knew, how people had locked Qiling up before – hadn't given him a choice. Had used him for their own means to the point that the man himself didn't even expect to be treated like a human being any more.
And Wu Xie knew, that the more he wanted to cling to Qiling the more he wanted everything – the more he had to let Qiling go and give him freedom. Or lose him – his trust – his everything.
Then Wu Xie would open his eyes just a small crack to show himself the reality. To proof himself and ascertain at the same time that in fact – nothing had happened.
Telling himself that even when his heart told him that Qiling seemed to have come just a tad bit closer towards him – that that was in fact his own willful delusion. But his heart wouldn't listen. Speeding up in anticipation and fear of a kiss that could chance everything.
He is just imagining things – Wu Xie told himself again, fully aware that his dreams and fantasies were affecting his thoughts at this very moment. And, to Wu Xie's relive only his thoughts.
"But I like this more." Wu Xie heart Qiling whisper, sending a shudder through his body.
What? It was like his brain had blanked completely. What had they been talking about again? What –
As a cold and moist lump it his skin right at one of his most sensible spots slightly underneath his chin to the side of his ear. Automatically flinching back from the uncomfortably muddy and grainy feeling that had hit his skin. Cursing at what had happened.
Qiling had chosen just that moment to cover that piece of skin in mud.
"I'm sorry – please bear with it", was the only thing he said as he started spreading the cold grainy and wettish mud on Wu Xie's neck.
