As they got closer to the place Wu Xi could see the mercenaries carrying rocks away from that side wall and piling them several meters away.

The new pile has already grown quite a bit. They probably had already been working for while before his uncle had taken Wu Xi to this place.

"The robber shovel showed that there is a path to the under ground behind that collapsed building. But with all this rubble it – who knows if it is still usable. It's likely also damaged." His uncle had stopped, climbing, and sat down on a stone that looked like it was once part of a pillar.

They were still several meters away from the other people, but from this point they could overlook the whole working place.

Wu Xi stepped a bit aside, knowing that Zhang was following he made room for him. It had somewhat turned into a habit by now.

Zhang always preferred a place a bit to the side, where he could overlook everything but shadowy enough so he wouldn't be immediately noticed.

If Zhang really went there he didn't know, he couldn't properly see the place – but he knew that he was close by.

Which was enough to make Wu Xi a bit more relaxed.

Those mercenaries weren't in a good mood. He could tell. The looks some of them where shooting in their direction – he didn't like them at all.

Wu Xi wasn't sure why that was the case though, they didn't seemed to be of - jealousy that there was no need for him to work like them.

Truth be told be probably would collapse under the weight of some of the stones they were carrying around like nothing.

No, every glance was a bit different and some of them gave him the shivers – if he wasn't absolutely sure that he was save with Zhang and his uncle here he probably already would have left, returned to camp as soon as possible.

That was probably the reason why his uncle always told him to stay away from mercenaries like these. You couldn't trust them, they could easily turn on you at any time and at least in his case – they were several times stronger then him.

But if there was one thing he had learned – underground, it didn't matter how strong one is. The only thing important is how good one could survive.

And he had to know – he had already seen a few of those hidden monsters that even Zhang rather avoided.

Those mercenaries probably planned to get rid of us – Wu Xi thought. But they were probably waiting until they had found the tunnel entrance and were underground.

And when taking greed into account it wasn't the worst idea, but according to his experience – it would be better for them to wait until they were outside and in safety again.

But just to be sure, he would make sure to stay close to Fatty and Zhang after entering that Temple that was probably just a few stones distant from them.

Unbeknownst to him, Wu Xi had stepped closer to Zhang, the moment he had noticed the glances, that had been send in his direction.
