Zhang should have reached Fatty by now, Wu Xi thought. If it weren't for his stupid mistake, forgetting the first aid kit, he would have been with him the hole time. Wu Xi pulled his legs tighter to himself.
Curling into himself. After all there was no one else here. He shouldn't have left. He could have backtracked, and hidden himself between the broken stones of the fallen staircase, where he had repelled down before.
Then he only would have needed to wait for Zhang to come down. He hadn't even thought about that in the spur of the moment. But back then, he remembered, there was something watching him there.
Well, what he should have done, or not, wasn't important anymore. At least like that he wasn't a burden to them, he hoped.
Currently not being able to communicate with them felt wrong. It felt like he had just left them to fend for themselves. Wu Xi pulled his legs closer. Sucking a breath in – with the sudden stinging pain on his hand.
Damn, with all that had been going on, he had forgotten to not use his hand. With it scraping along his trousers he could feel it again like it was completely new. Apparently, he had just ripped the freshly formed crust on the bleeding parts of.
Sighing he leaned a bit forward, away from the protective stonewall to hold his hand into the light and take another look.
"Luckily I didn't rip it open any further.", he mumbled pressing his back to the stone wall again.
"But that's, just me" grumbling, he was thankful for the noise that kept him from noticing the utter silence. "I walked away from the fight like Fatty always tells me to. But I still managed to get hurt."
The silence after had him shiver.
He really should be with Fatty and Zhang right now.
Right now, he was at a dark place. Quite literally. Even with the light on he couldn't see much further than his outstretched arm. Everything beyond that, was all devouring darkness. There might just be something hiding there, waiting for its chance to strike.
He couldn't even stretch his feet without getting shivers.
Breath in – breath out
To do, he really needed something to do, to occupied his mind with, so it would stop with those horrible thoughts.
Breath in – breath out
Breath in – Breath out
He remembered. He was an architect, and he still remembered the way.
The different corridors, the tunnels all the ups and downs. He had memorised them to find his way back. But, at this moment he was the person who had explored more than everyone else.
Of course, while the labyrinth can be confusing it can't be built just anyhow. There had to be rules to this.
Stones are heavy and he was sure even with all the ups and downs that there had to be at least three underground floors. If it were built without any plan, it wouldn't be able to hold the load of the stones above.
There had to be carrying walls and such – if he figured those out, he could deduce what this place could look like.
