"Dad. I love you."

"Don't disappoint me."

Ivah pressed their lips together as they observed the troop. Their very own to command  and storm the Archipelago and conquer all in the name of Ikraam Merikh.

And this would be the second wave of attacks , all commandeered by Ivah while her father would hold down defenses in the homeland of Acerbi.

It was different then just being sent to battle under another's command. Any decisions made would be on Ivah's shoulders.

Any comrades lost would be Ivah's fault.

"Are you sure Father?" Ivah asked softly , their back remaining straight and face passive as the troop mingled below them. Ivah caught sight of Belal scolding a soldier who obviously reached the bottom of a mead barrel the night before.

Ikraam's golden eyes narrowed. "Doubting me child?"

"Never." Ivah answered quickly, not even turning to face their father, they didn't wish to anger their father. His temper would mean an injury that could last Ivah from weeks to months of recovery that they'd have to forgo to continue his commands. "Merely doubting myself."

Ivah could feel Ikraam's glare. Harsh and brutal. "Don't." He said finally turning his gaze away from Ivah. "You proved yourself adept when you killed Tagir."

A high member of the council, slaughtered at Ikraam's whim. The crimson still wet on their skin from the battle, and his cries still echoing in Ivah's ears. Begging to be spared, reminding Ivah that at the very least he was owed their life for the numerous times he had saved Ivah on the battlefield.

"Get yourself cleaned off."   Ikraam dismissed and Ivah nodded , eager to be in clean clothes and to clean their hands.

Ivah stopped when they caught sight of Tagir's wife, Cutrua. Eyes shimmering with tears of the heartbreak and filled with fury for Ivah killing her husband. Cutrua stood firmly in Ivah's way, a challenge or death wish according to their culture. Ivah didn't wish to steal Tagir's children of their mother today though.

"Excuse me Auntie." Ivah murmured walking around Cutrua, her still bloody hand leaving a stain on Cutrua's shoulder.

At least physically Ivah could clean their hands.

Ivah was the last to board the ship, having thoroughly checked the inventory and ensuring that they'd have enough freshwater for at least a month at sea. Before they even stepped on the ramp the realizations of what was to happen hit them. "Father." They swallowed and let the words fall out , not wanting to regret should anything happen. "Dad. I love you."

Ikraam stayed quiet observing their child.

The child with Leora's dark Lucious hair, soft delicate features.
