Hiccup, not willing to take another chance on the twins or leave her out of anyones sight, kept her by their side as they worked on remodeling a dragon stable as a cell. The twins were officially off Merikh duty and while they complained about the other chores they'd have been put in charge of , the second Hiccup offered them a shift they'd both take off.
It would work , even without the twins, they'd all take shifts. In the middle of the island was the stables and since the dragons slept there most nights it would help that she'd be kept an eye on through them as well. Not to mention that if she did escape, there was an equal chance for everyone to react.
Astrid noticed that no matter what material was used, the Hersir would find a way to grind through them and after a certain point you wonder if you should even waste your time trying.
There was three days of peace and Hiccup grew grateful before he went in to relieve Snotlout from his shift , only to find Snotlout and the Hersir gone.
"SNOTLOUT?" Hiccup's voice did not crack. He was a grown man at this point, so far past puberty , so his voice did not crack with panic okay?
"In here!" Hiccup turned and noticed that the chest which sounded strangely like Snotlout had just shouted. Hiccup walked over to the chest filled with saddle brushes, saddle cleaner and the like and threw the lid open to see a Snotlout smushed inside with a look of annoyance on his features. "What took you so long?"
"What?! The real question is what are you doing in there?! Where's the Hersir?"
Snotlout's cheeks burned bright red. "Well over the last few days I was seeing signs of my Snotlout charm working on her and recently-"
Hiccup startled back well aware of exactly what Snotlout was referring to but not exactly sure this was something he wanted to confirm.
Not something he wanted to confirm but something to be confirmed nonetheless. "They flirted with you and you let them go?!"
"When you put it like that , it makes it all sound bad." Snotlout whined following Hiccup out of the stables. "What do we do?"
"We bring them back." Hiccup snapped sliding onto Toothless's saddle. The action second nature and Toothless fixed Snotlout in his own glare. "Go get the others and let them know of your mistake."
Snotlout , winced at the sharp words and nodded running off, although Hiccup could hear him mumbling under his breath as he ran off. Something in Hiccup knew that he was being unfair but the other part of him was more concerned with ensuring his chance of solving the war bloodless was trying to escape for the third time.
In the end it was Astrid who brought in the Hersir, who was paralyzed thanks to the Speed Stinger Venom that had been extracted.
The twins had called him crazy but he asked if they'd rather be on watch duty for Ivah once again and there response was to hop on Barf and Belch and take off.
